NaphCare is hiring LPNs/LVNs to join our team at the Hamilton Correctional Facility in Hamilton, AL. Part-time weekend and PRN positions are available to provide essential healthcare in a controlled correctional environment.

As a Correctional Nurse, you will assess patients, administer medications, manage chronic illnesses, and respond to emergencies. You will work with correctional officers and medical staff to protect patient health and rights in this unique setting.

Qualifications

  • Graduate from a Licensed Practical Nursing program.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Actively state-certified as an LPN/LVN.
  • BLS CPR Certification (AHA preferred).
  • Ability to interact effectively with diverse patient populations.
  • Maintain confidentiality and comply with facility policies.
  • Must pass a criminal background check and drug screening.

Responsibilities

  • Perform patient assessments and document health problems and med history.
  • Take vitals (BP, temp, weight).
  • Provide wound care and administer medications.
  • Maintain medical records in TechCare EHR.
  • Observe patient and mental health status and respond to emergencies.
  • Provide patient education and discharge planning.

Overview

NaphCare is hiring LPNs and LVNs to join our team of medical professionals in Hamilton, AL, where we manage all aspects of healthcare for the individuals who are currently incarcerated in the Hamilton Correctional Facility. We currently have a Part Time Weekend position and a PRN position available.

As a Correctional Nurse, you will work alongside correctional officers and other medical professionals to provide care to the individuals in residence. Working within a controlled environment, where security is top priority and the days are never dull, you will have various duties to keep you engaged including performing physical assessments, administering medications, managing chronic illnesses, and responding to emergencies. This is a unique position where you can make a difference to this diverse population of patients with complex medical needs.

Responsibilities

As an LPN, you will play a critical role in our continued mission to provide quality healthcare that protects the rights, dignity, and health of our unique patient population. Duties and responsibilities may include and not be limited to:

  • Performing patient assessments, interviewing patients about current health problems, medication history
  • Taking vital signs including blood pressure, temperature, and weight
  • Providing wound care, including cleaning and bandaging injured areas
  • Administering medication, including injections of medications and monitoring reaction to meds
  • Maintaining medical records, including entering information into our electronic health record, TechCare
  • Observing patient health and mental health status
  • Providing emergency first aid
  • Providing patient education and discharge/release planning
Qualifications

Education / Licenses / Certifications / Requirements

  • Graduate from a Licensed Practical Nursing program
  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • Actively state-certified as a Licensed Vocational Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse
  • Be able to obtain BLS CPR Certification (AHA preferred)
  • Ability to interact effectively with patients from diverse backgrounds, including those with mental health or substance abuse issues
  • Must have the ability to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information and integrity, professionalism and ability to adhere to a Code of Conduct and comply with all facility(s) correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements
  • Must pass the facility’s criminal background check and drug screening

Physical Capabilities:

Must have the ability to stand for long periods, lift and move patients (up to 50 pounds), bend, squat, reach, push, pull, walk significant distances, and perform physically demanding tasks like CPR, all while maintaining good balance and endurance throughout a shift.
