Job summary

United Vein & Vascular Centers (UVVC) is expanding in New York and inviting a dedicated LPN to join our Howard Beach clinic. The role supports safe, patient-centered care under physicians and RNs, with rooming, vital sign collection, and procedure setup.

Travel to other UVVC markets for up to 4 weeks and participate in a collaborative care model that emphasizes infection control, HIPAA, and quality outcomes. Total compensation reflects experience and includes benefits.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited LPN program.
  • Current unrestricted LPN license in the state of practice.
  • Minimum of one year of clinical experience in ambulatory care, vascular, surgical, or physician practice setting preferred.
  • Current Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider (BLS).
  • Experience assisting with sterile procedures and medication preparation preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong computer skills and experience with electronic medical records.
  • Familiar with medical terminology.
  • Dependable with reliable attendance and punctuality.

Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)- Howard Beach

About the Role

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) supports safe, efficient, and patient-centered care across UVVC clinics. Working under the direction of the physician, Advanced Practice Provider, or Registered Nurse (where applicable), the LPN drives patient flow by rooming patients promptly; updating visit status in the Electronic Health Record (EHR); performing patient verification, collecting and documenting vital signs, focused nursing observations, patient photos, leg measurements, and accurate clinical documentation (HPI, screenings, and consents). The LPN prepares, stocks, and turns over exam and procedure rooms; sets up for sterile and non-sterile procedures; participates in the Time Out process; and assists clinicians with patient positioning, skin preparation, sterile technique, medication preparation, and medication administration as permitted by state law and organizational policy.
The LPN maintains infection prevention and safety standards in accordance with CDC and OSHA guidelines, protects patient privacy under HIPAA, and supports high-quality clinical care through instrument processing, autoclave maintenance, inventory reconciliation, medication and supply management, patient education, and reinforcement of provider instructions. The LPN completes required education and competency validation, adheres to Standard Operating Procedures, remains flexible to float between clinic locations, and actively supports team members to promote efficient clinic operations and exceptional patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Completes ongoing education and competencies as assigned in learning management system prior to due date.

    • Adheres to administrative and clinical standard operating procedures.
    • Maintains flexibility with given schedule and floats to clinics other than home location as requested by supervisor.
    • When not actively engaged with a scheduled patient, assists other staff members with their duties in the spirit of teamwork to ensure effective and efficient clinic operation.
    • Drives efficient patient flow: uses eCW to update patient status throughout visit, promptly rooms patients, performs Patient Verification process, obtains and documents vital signs, takes patient photos, performs leg measurements, and turns over patient rooms
  • Performs focused nursing observations and reports changes in patient condition or abnormal findings to the physician or Advanced Practice Provider in a timely manner.

    • Reinforces patient education regarding procedures, medications, post-procedure instructions, compression therapy, and follow-up care as directed by the provider.
    • Assesses patient readiness for procedures within the Licensed Practical Nurse scope of practice and communicates concerns to the provider.
    • Ensures procedure and exam rooms are stocked appropriately and communicates with supply chain team as needed.
    • Maintains the Two-Bin Inventory System by monitoring inventory levels and replenishing supplies in accordance with established processes.
    • Completes inventory reconciliation activities and submits required documentation on time in accordance with Supply processes.
    • Adheres to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards in wearing appropriate PPE, cleaning, and preparing rooms for procedures.
    • Documents patient’s history of present illness (HPI), preventative screenings, and additional patient information in patient’s medical record, as directed.
  • Documents nursing interventions and patient responses accurately in the electronic medical record.

    • Completes consent forms accurately prior to all patient procedures and obtains patient signatures.
    • Maintains autoclave with weekly and monthly maintenance, logs, and spore testing process.
    • Properly processes surgical instruments and designated medical equipment.
    • Actively participates in the Time Out Process.
    • Safely assists with patient transfers.
    • Sets up exam rooms for sterile and nonsterile patient procedures and assists in surgical procedures.
    • Adheres to standards for maintaining sterile environments and surgical attire to promote patient safety and prevent contamination during procedures.
    • Assists in positioning patients and preparing patient’s skin for procedures.
    • Prepares and administers medications as permitted by state law, provider orders, and organizational policy; maintains accurate medication documentation.
    • Documents nursing interventions and patient responses accurately in the electronic medical record.
  • Responsible for medication and supply expiration dates, using the first in first out (FIFO) method ensuring items with earliest expiration dates are used first.

    • Other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) program.

    • Current unrestricted Licensed Practical Nurse license in the state of practice.
    • Minimum of one (1) year of clinical experience in ambulatory care, vascular, surgical, procedural, or physician practice setting preferred.
    • Current Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider through American Heart Association or the ability to obtain within 60 days.
    • Experience assisting with sterile procedures and medication preparation preferred.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Strong computer skills and experience with electronic medical records.
    • Familiar with medical terminology.
    • Dependable; able to meet reliable attendance and punctuality standards.

Total compensation is based on experience and may include base salary, bonuses, and other incentive pay.
