Essential HealthCare Solutions, LLC is seeking Florida-licensed Practical Nurses to support on-site medical care at employee shelters during hurricane and severe-weather events in Southwest Florida. Working under an RN, you will deliver hands-on basic nursing care to crews and emergency personnel involved in power restoration.

This activation-based, on-call role offers flexible deployments and competitive compensation for 12-hour shifts in shelter settings across Lee County.

Qualifications

• Active Florida LPN license required.
• Current BLS certification required.
• Ability to pass a background screening.
• Available to deploy on short notice and work 12-hour shifts in shelter/field conditions.
• Comfort working in an RN-led team in a fast-paced, resource-limited environment.
• Preferred: disaster-response experience and related training.

Responsibilities

• Provide basic nursing care under RN supervision.

About the Role

Essential HealthCare Solutions, LLC is building a roster of Florida-licensed Practical Nurses to support on-site medical care at employee shelters during hurricane and severe-weather events in Southwest Florida. Working under the direction of a Registered Nurse, our LPNs deliver hands‑on basic nursing care to the crews and emergency personnel working to keep the power on.

This is on-call, activation‑based work ideal for nurses who want meaningful disaster‑response experience and flexible, well‑compensated deployments.

Deployment Locations & Environment

• 141 East Mariana Avenue, North Fort Myers, FL 33917
• LCEC Basecamp, Williams Road, North Fort Myers, FL 33917

Shelter occupants may include Cooperative employees, line crews, vegetation-management contractors, mutual‑aid personnel, emergency‑operations staff, and authorized support personnel — populations of 50 to 500+ operating continuously for 24 hours to 14 days.

What You'll Do

• Provide basic nursing care to shelter occupants under the direction of a Registered Nurse
• Administer treatments and medications within the LPN scope of practice as directed
• Deliver first aid, monitor vital signs, and manage minor illnesses and injuries
• Collect clinical data and assist the RN with screenings, monitoring, and referrals to urgent care, hospital, or EMS
• Respond to on‑site medical incidents and provide nursing care within scope, supporting the RN until EMS assumes care
• Monitor for heat illness, dehydration, fatigue, infectious‑disease concerns, and signs of stress
• Implement infection‑prevention practices and recommend isolation or mitigation measures when appropriate
• Assist with setup of the shelter medical station and maintain medical‑supply inventory
• Maintain accurate documentation, incident notes, and supply/usage records
• Escalate serious incidents promptly to the RN and management

What You'll Bring

• Active, unencumbered Florida LPN license — required
• Current BLS certification — required
• Ability to pass a background screening
• Availability to deploy on short notice and work extended 12-hour shifts in shelter/field conditions
• Comfort working as part of an RN‑led team in a fast‑paced, resource‑limited environment
• Preferred: emergency, long‑term care, shelter, or disaster‑response experience; IV/medication administration per FL scope; IC/S/FEMA training

Schedule & Conditions

This is activation‑based work. Deployments are triggered by storm events — from up to 72 hours before anticipated landfall, through impact, and into recovery — for periods of 24 hours to 14 consecutive days. You will work 12-hour shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays, in shelter and temporary‑facility settings. Meals and lodging are provided during qualifying deployments, and PPE is supplied.

Upon activation, you acknowledge the assignment within one (1) hour and confirm availability, roster placement, estimated deployment time, and emergency‑contact information.
