Job summary

Memorial Health in Illinois is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse - Emergency Department (LPN-ED) to provide direct patient care in collaboration with the Registered Nurse for an assigned group of patients. The LPN-ED will assess vital signs, assist with procedures, document care, and support safety and infection control while upholding Memorial Health System Performance Excellence Standards.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school for licensed practical nurses.
• Possesses current licensure in the state of Illinois.
• CPR certification or completes certification during Nursing Team Onboarding.

Responsibilities

• Embodies quality and safety standards and assists with arrival of patients to the Emergency Department.
• Collects patient data including vital signs and medical history; provides direct nursing care as directed.
• Documents care, monitors patient response, and promotes infection control practices.
• Supports patient education and collaborates with the health care team to meet goals.
• Attends educational programs to meet licensing requirements.
• Performs other related work as required.

Nursing Care is provided in accordance with established standards, policies, procedures, protocols, and guidelines. USD $24.68/Hr. Max USD $39.49/Hr.

Education

Graduate of an accredited school for licensed practical nurses required.

Licensure/Certification/Registry

• Possesses current licensure in the state of Illinois.
• Certified in CPR or completes certification during Nursing Team Onboarding.

Other Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

• Demonstrates evidence of positive interpersonal relationships.
• Demonstrates knowledge of basic nursing principles and procedures.
• Demonstrates ability to stand/walk for extended periods and is able to lift up to 50 lbs.

• Assists with the arrival of patients to the Emergency Department. Collects unit specific patient data including vital signs, allergies, past medical history, and current medications.
• Performs and documents nursing care measures to meet the physical needs of patients as directed by the registered nurse or provider.
• Performs and documents monitoring procedures; observes and reports the patient response.
• Performs basic nursing interventions with skill and confidence following institutional policies and promotes safety and sound infection control practices.
• Maintains safety and security of patient/family/others, observing safety precautions and promoting a sense of security and well-being.
• Works with all members of the health care team to move the patient toward established goals.
• Assists to support patient education throughout the patient hospital visit.
