Job summary

Trinity Health in Syracuse, NY, is seeking a part-time Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for our Emergency Department. The role involves therapeutic nursing interventions under RN supervision, medication administration after completion of required course, and documentation in the EPIC system.

You will join a collaborative, interdisciplinary team delivering high-quality care across cardiac, trauma, and general emergencies, with flexible scheduling and comprehensive Trinity Health benefits.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited school for Licensed Practical Nursing and current licensure, or eligibility for licensure, in the State of New York.
• Participates in orientation and continuing education and updates and maintains knowledge and skills related to specific areas of expertise.

Responsibilities

• Therapeutic nursing interventions under the supervision and direction of the RN for daily care, tube feeds, dressing changes and more.
• Medication administration upon completion of medication course.
• Documentation using the EPIC system.
• Collaborative team approach with interdisciplinary team of registered nurses, medical social work, care managers, nutrition, Rehab services, spiritual care and pharmacy.
• Ensures quality nursing care in accordance with the NY Nurse Practice Act and applicable standards.
• Utilizes the Nursing Process in direct care of patients and families.

Our Emergency Departmentis a fast paced team of interdisciplinary professionals ready to promote and restore health to all who enter. Divided into four major zones with waiting area, registration area and triage area, we efficiently provide care for all specialties and all ages. Our call ahead program is the first in this area to provide an opportunity for scheduled evaluation times. The Emergency Department offers LPN’s the opportunity for a wide variety of patient experiences from minor injuries in our Speed Unit, to Cardiac Arrest and Trauma.We offer flexible scheduling. A Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is a licensed health care provider who provides nursing care under the direction of an RN, physician, or other authorized health care provider. There is no independent component to the LPN role.

The Nurse Practice Act defines the practice of a LPN as "performing tasks and responsibilities within the framework of case finding, health teaching, health counseling, and provision of supportive and restorative care under the direction of a registered nurse or licensed physician, dentist, or other licensed health care provider legally authorized under this title and in accordance with the commissioner's regulations."

Education, Training, Experience, Certification and Licensure:

Pay Range: $26.85-$36.90

Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
