Job summary

Westfield Public Schools is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to support student health services in Westfield, MA. This full-time school nurse role requires MA LPN licensure, CPR/First Aid, and strong communication with students, families, and staff.

The position starts immediately with a salary between $29 and $38 per hour. Interpretations and performance are guided by district health policies and state requirements.

Responsibilities

• Conducts parent conferences and maintains liaison between physicians, parents and staff.
• Makes recommendations to primary care physician on health needs of individual students.
• Maintains up-to-date cumulative health records on all students requiring nursing intervention, including immunization records and exemptions for religious and medical reasons.
• Reports to parents, school personnel, physicians, clinics and other agencies on student health matters.
• Assumes authority, in the absence of a physician, for the care of a student who has suffered an injury or emergency illness.
• Administers first aid in accordance with established first aid procedures and district policies.
• Implements board policy on exclusion and re-admission of students in connection with infectious and contagious diseases.
• Conducts training for students related to impairments, health and hygiene.
• Assists school personnel in maintaining sanitary standards in schools.
