Job summary

The Gardens at Aldersgate in Topeka, KS is seeking a licensed practical nurse (LPN) to provide compassionate nursing care to our residents and support our healthcare team.

You will work closely with a Charge Nurse, RN Supervisor, Director of Nursing, and Administrator to deliver high-quality care and uphold resident rights in a supportive environment.

Responsibilities

• Enhance clinical care and quality of life for residents; protect resident rights.
• Prepare and administer medications as ordered by the physician.
• Check residents daily to ensure prescribed treatment is properly administered.
• Keep the RN Supervisor informed about residents and staff matters.
• Implement changes directed by the RN Supervisor or Director of Nurses.
• Provide professional services per policies (catheterization, tube feeding, wound care, etc.).
• Complete all required LPN record keeping forms upon admission, discharge, transfer.
• Give and receive nursing reports during shift handover.
• Investigate complaints and file necessary reports.
• Present a professional image to residents and families.
• Adhere to policies and standards.

As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) you are responsible for providing exceptional nursing care in accordance with our policies and procedures. You will have all of the training, support, tools & equipment you need to provide the highest degree of quality care. Our team of nursing care professionals & mentors will be by your side every day, including a Charge Nurse, RN Supervisor, Director of Nursing and Administrator.

Your responsibilities will include:

1. Enhancing the clinical care and quality of life of our residents. And ensuring that all resident rights are protected.
2. Preparing and administering medications as ordered by the physician.
3. Checking all residents daily to ensure that prescribed treatment is being properly administered by nursing personnel/assistants and to evaluate their physical and emotional status.
4. Keeping the RN Supervisor informed about the status of residents, staff and related matters.
5. Implementing recommended changes as directed by the RN Supervisor or the Director of Nurses.
6. Administering professional services such as: catheterization, tube feeding, suction, applying and changing dressings/bandages, packs, colostomy and drainage bags, taking blood, sputum, and urine specimens, etc., as established by the facility’s policies and procedures.
7. Completing all Licensed Practical Nurse LPN required record keeping forms/charts upon the resident’s admission, discharge, transfer, etc. File in the resident’s chart and/or forward to the appropriate department.
8. Giving and receiving nursing reports upon reporting in and ending shift duty hours.
9. Investigating complaints and grievances and making necessary oral/written reports to the RN Supervisor or Director of Nurses.
10. Presenting in a professional image to residents and families through dress, behavior and speech.
11. Adhering to our policies and standards.
