Job summary

Turning Point of Tampa seeks a dependable Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our detoxification and residential care team on a PRN basis. The LPN will provide nursing care to adults with substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders.

This as-needed position follows facility needs and employee availability, offering flexible scheduling within a compassionate, multidisciplinary treatment environment focused on recovery.

Qualifications

• Current, unrestricted Florida LPN license.
• Current CPR certification.
• Experience in substance use treatment or related setting preferred.
• Strong communication, assessment, documentation, and organizational skills.
• Ability to remain calm and respond in urgent situations.
• Available for day/evening/night/weekend/holiday shifts; PRN schedule.

Responsibilities

• Administer medications and treatments per orders and procedures.
• Obtain vital signs and monitor withdrawal symptoms and responses.
• Report medical concerns promptly to supervising staff.
• Complete MARs, nursing notes, and documentation accurately.
• Assist with admissions, medication reconciliation, and ongoing care.
• Respond to medical emergencies per procedures.
• Coordinate with physicians, NPs, RNs, therapists and treatment team.
• Maintain medication security, infection-control, and nursing station.
• Educate clients regarding medications and wellness.
• Maintain client confidentiality and HIPAA compliance.

Job description

Turning Point of Tampa is seeking a dependable and compassionate Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our team on a PRN basis. The LPN will provide nursing care to adults receiving treatment for substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders in our detoxification and residential programs.

This is an as-needed position with scheduling based on facility needs and employee availability.

Responsibilities:

• Administer medications and treatments in accordance with provider orders, facility procedures, and the LPN scope of practice
• Obtain vital signs and monitor clients for withdrawal symptoms, medication effectiveness, adverse reactions, and changes in condition
• Report medical concerns and changes in client status promptly to the appropriate provider or supervising nurse
• Complete medication administration records, nursing notes, and other required documentation accurately and promptly
• Assist with admissions, medication reconciliation, and ongoing client care
• Respond appropriately to medical emergencies and follow established emergency procedures
• Coordinate with physicians, nurse practitioners, registered nurses, therapists, behavioral health technicians, and other members of the treatment team
• Maintain medication security, inventory, infection-control practices, and nursing-station organization
• Educate clients regarding medications, health needs, and recovery-related wellness
• Maintain client confidentiality and comply with HIPAA, DCF, Joint Commission, and organizational requirements

Requirements:

• Current, unrestricted Florida Licensed Practical Nurse license
• Current CPR certification
• Experience in substance use treatment, detoxification, behavioral health, or a related setting preferred
• Strong communication, assessment, documentation, and organizational skills
• Ability to remain calm and respond appropriately in urgent or challenging situations
• Availability to work as needed, including potential day, evening, overnight, weekend, and holiday shifts
• Must successfully complete all required background screening and pre-employment requirements
