Job summary

NaphCare, Inc. is hiring LPNs to join our team in Elmore, AL, serving individuals incarcerated by the Alabama Department of Corrections at Staton.

You will work with correctional officers and medical staff in a controlled environment, performing assessments, administering meds, and handling chronic illnesses and emergencies. As a Correctional Nurse, you’ll contribute to quality healthcare while protecting patient rights and dignity.

Qualifications

  • Graduate from a Licensed Practical Nursing program.
  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • Actively state-certified as an LPN/LVN.
  • Must possess an active BLS CPR Certification (AHA preferred).
  • Maintain confidentiality of all proprietary information.
  • Comply with facility policies, procedures and legal requirements.
  • Pass the facility’s criminal background check and drug screening.

Responsibilities

  • Performing patient assessments, interviewing patients about health problems and medication history.
  • Taking vital signs including blood pressure, temperature, and weight.
  • Providing wound care, including cleaning and bandaging injured areas.
  • Administering medication, including injections and monitoring reactions.
  • Maintaining medical records in the electronic health record TechCare.
  • Observing patient health and mental health status.
  • Providing emergency first aid and discharge planning.

Overview

This posting is open exclusively to current AL DOC incumbent employees.

NaphCare is hiring LPN to join our team of medical professionals in Elmore, AL, where we manage all aspects of healthcare for the individuals who are currently incarcerated in the Alabama Department of Corrections - Staton.

As a Correctional Nurse, you will work alongside correctional officers and other medical professionals to provide care to the individuals in residence. Working within a controlled environment, where security is top priority and the days are never dull, you will have various duties to keep you engaged including performing physical assessments, administering medications, managing chronic illnesses, and responding to emergencies. This is a unique position where you can make a difference to this diverse population of patients with complex medical needs.

Responsibilities

As an LPN, you will play a critical role in our continued mission to provide quality healthcare that protects the rights, dignity, and health of our unique patient population. Duties and responsibilities may include and not be limited to:

  • Performing patient assessments, interviewing patients about current health problems, medication history
  • Taking vital signs including blood pressure, temperature, and weight
  • Providing wound care, including cleaning and bandaging injured areas
  • Administering medication, including injections of medications and monitoring reaction to meds
  • Maintaining medical records, including entering information into our electronic health record, TechCare
  • Observing patient health and mental health status
  • Providing emergency first aid
  • Providing patient education and discharge/release planning
Qualifications

Experience / Requirements / Qualifications

  • Graduate from a Licensed Practical Nursing program
  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • Actively state-certified as a Licensed Vocational Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse
  • Must possess an active BLS CPR Certification (American Heart Association preferred)
  • Able to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information
  • Display integrity, professionalism and be able to adhere to a Code of Conduct and comply with all facility(s) correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements
  • Must pass the facility’s criminal background check and drug screening

Physical Capabilities:

Must have the ability to stand for long periods, lift and move patients (up to 50 pounds), bend, squat, reach, push, pull, walk significant distances, and perform physically demanding tasks like CPR, all while maintaining good balance and endurance throughout a shift.
