Job summary

CSL in Oklahoma City seeks a qualified professional to evaluate donor suitability for automated pheresis procedures and to provide limited emergency medical care to donors and staff. The role includes interviewing donors, performing medical histories, and ensuring compliance with SOPs while supporting the Center Medical Director on donor suitability questions.

Experience in a plasma or blood collection setting is preferred; licensure or certifications must be current.

Qualifications

• Graduation from a paramedic, nursing, physician assistant, chiropractic, medical school or naturopathic medical training program.
• If graduation is from a foreign allopathic or osteopathic medical school, must also currently be licensed as a physician or state certification as an emergency medical technician
• For NY: current state licensure or certification as an RN, MD or DO in the state you are applying for work or in a reciprocal state
• Minimum of one (1) year relevant experience in a health care environment
• Experience in a plasma or whole blood collection center or other regulated environment preferred
• Ability to make and analyze a physical assessment of heart, lung sounds, signs of drug use, etc.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate donor suitability for automated pheresis procedures.
• Provide limited emergency medical care to donors and staff including administering medications or treatments per licensure.
• Interview donors and perform medical history reviews to obtain information for donor suitability.
• Collaborate with Center Medical Director to address medically related questions regarding donor suitability.
• Review test results and determine continued donor suitability; assess donor symptoms that may stop donation.
• Notify and counsel donors regarding reactive test results; refer for follow-up and counseling.
• Provide routine care following SOPs; escalate critical medical situations to Center Physician or local medical providers.
