Job summary

The GEO Group in Florence, AZ is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to collaborate with our RN in a correctional setting, delivering high-quality nursing care to inmates while maintaining a safe, secure environment.

You will develop care plans, perform assessments, administer medications, and document interactions. This full-time role includes comprehensive benefits and a $4,000 sign-on bonus; a current LPN license and valid state credentials are required.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Current, unrestricted LPN license in the state of the facility.
• Two years of direct LPN experience preferred.
• Competence in crisis intervention, medical emergencies, physical assessment, nursing care, and psychiatric nursing care.
• Ability to work independently and use department software.

Responsibilities

• Develop nursing care plans with guidance from RN.
• Perform complete physical assessment and review medical history.
• Provide nursing care and refer issues to physician as needed.
• Administer prescribed medications as instructed.
• Evaluate patient symptoms and progress; report problems to management.
• Securely administer medications and prevent hoarding/trafficking.
• Follow accreditation policies and document all detainee contacts.

Responsibilities

Role and Responsibilities:

Working alongside our Registered Nurse (RN), you’ll play a vital part in providing the highest level of care to inmates/detainees while putting a special focus on maintaining our safe and secure workplace.

• Develop nursing care plans with guidance from the RN.
• Perform complete physical assessment and medical history.
• Provide nursing care within your capacity and refer other medical problems to the appropriate physician.
• Make sure prescribed medications are administered as instructed.
• Periodically evaluate patients' symptoms, reactions, and progress, and report problems to management.
• Securely administer medication, taking precautions against drug hoarding and trafficking.
• Follow industry and company accreditation policies.
• Document all detainee/inmate contacts and keep medical records confidential.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required. Must have a current, unrestricted license to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in the state the facility is located. Maintains a current copy of license on file at the facility at all times.
• Two (2) years of direct work experience Licensed Practical Nurse preferred.
• Must possess competence in the performance of the following services: crisis intervention, medical emergencies, physical assessment, medical nursing care, and psychiatric nursing care.
• Must have the ability to work without direct, immediate supervision in performing nursing diagnosis, and be able provide appropriate follow through treatment.
• Ability to work with computers and the necessary software typically used by the department.

Pay USD $34.00/Hr. to USD $38.47/Hr.
