Job summary

Adelphi is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to provide nursing care at a correctional facility in Nottoway, Virginia, collaborating with physicians and nurses to deliver compassionate, standards‑based care to inmates. Responsibilities include recording vital signs, administering medications, and assisting with examinations. This contract assignment runs 13 weeks with shifts 8p-8:30a and 8a-8:30p.

Compensation is $36/hr. Start date ASAP.

Qualifications

• Active Virginia license.
• CPR Certification.

Responsibilities

• Participates in the screening, evaluation, and care of inmates while under the supervision of a physician and/or registered nurse.
• Record patients’ medical information and vital signs.
• Prepare patients for and assist with examinations or treatments.
• Prepare rooms, sterile instruments, equipment, or supplies and ensure that stock of supplies is maintained.
• Coordinate with other medical and ancillary personnel, as required, to ensure continuity of care.
• Monitor, record, and report symptoms or changes in patients’ condition.
• Provide appropriate nursing interventions in emergency situations.
• Comply with all state requirements and facility policies and procedures.
• Additional duties as assigned by facility.
