Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Unrestricted NYS LPN license to practice nursing required.
  • 1–3 years of recent experience preferred.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and EMR preferred.
  • CPR certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Preparing the patient for the exam by performing preliminary tests.
  • Reporting relevant information to the provider.
  • Assisting the provider with patient care as requested.
  • Obtaining cultures and collecting samples, as needed including urine, saliva & blood.
  • Performing scribe duties, as needed.
  • Reviewing treatment procedures with patients.
  • Assisting in ordering tests / retrieving results.
  • Reviewing discharge instructions.
  • Cast application, specialty cast, minor reductions/molding/suture/Staple removal and dressing changes.
  • Preparing injections, obtaining cultures as ordered / needed.
  • Dispensing Durable Medical Equipment (DME) to patients, application of DME, custom brace measurements, and, in some cases, ordering of DME inventory.
  • Verifying patient information; recording medical history and reporting to physician.
  • Demonstrating complete, accurate, and timely documentation in the electronic medical record system.
  • Maintaining and safeguarding all patient records as indicated and required by the policies of the practice and the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

General Description

The LPN will play a key role in supporting our physicians and ensuring the highest quality of care for our patient care by performing casting and durable medical equipment as well as clinical tasks related to patient care under the supervision of a physician as needed.
