Job summary

AdventHealth in Orlando, FL is seeking a licensed Practical Nurse for a full-time night shift. You will conduct assessments, administer medications, document in the EMR, and educate patients and families while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to ensure safe, high-quality patient care.

Required LPN license, associate degree or technical/vocational training, and solid experience in an acute care setting.

Responsibilities

Job Description
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients' physical, psychosocial, environmental, and developmental health status.
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments safely, monitor patient responses, and document all related activities accurately.
  • Document patient assessments, care plans, interventions, and outcomes in medical records to ensure continuity of care.
  • Educate patients and their families about health conditions, treatments, medications, and preventive care.
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers, specialists, and support staff to ensure cohesive and comprehensive care delivery.
  • Respond promptly and appropriately to emergency situations to stabilize and provide necessary care to patients.
  • Monitor patient status continuously, noting any significant changes or concerns, and report findings to the healthcare team.
  • Assist healthcare providers during patient examinations and procedures, ensuring all necessary data and materials are prepared.
  • Promote a safe environment by identifying and addressing potential safety hazards for patients, visitors, and staff.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, monitor patient outcomes, and contribute to the development and implementation of best practices.
  • Supervise and delegate tasks to unlicensed personnel based on their competence and scope of practice, ensuring safe and efficient care delivery.

  • Ability to communicate by reading, writing legibly, speaking and comprehending English effectively in order to carry out job requirements. [Required]

  • Basic computer skills and experience with an electronic health record. [Required]
  • Basic Arrhythmia Interpretation proficiency as required by unit specialty. [Required]
