Job summary

University of Maryland Medical System Corporation seeks an experienced Licensed Practical Nurse for a 12‑hour shift, three days a week, every third weekend, and alternating holidays. Shift is 7:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.

in the CMR unit, under supervision of an RN or Provider. The role provides compassionate care and supports clinical operations. The LPN will monitor vitals, administer medications, assist with exams, educate patients and families, and ensure safety and quality standards are met.

Qualifications

  • Maryland LPN license current and in good standing.
  • Graduate from an approved Practical Nursing education program (Maryland).
  • BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care, including monitoring vitals, meds, wound care, specimen collection, and following provider orders.
  • Monitor patient condition and promptly report changes to supervising clinicians.
  • Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes in the medical record.
  • Assist RNs and providers with examinations, procedures, and treatment plans.
  • Educate patients and families about treatments, medications, and care plans.
  • Maintain infection control, safety, and regulatory compliance.
  • Coordinate with interdisciplinary team to ensure continuity and quality of care.
  • Maintain supplies, equipment, and inventory as needed.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and staff meetings.
  • Perform all other related duties as assigned.

LPN 12hr shift, 3 times a week, every 3rd weekend, and alternating holidaysDay 7a-7:30pCMR Unit Requires an LPN to have at least 1 year of experienceA Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides compassionate, patient-centered nursing care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Provider (MD, NP, PA, etc.). This role is responsible for delivering high-quality clinical support, ensuring patient safety, and promoting wellness through skilled nursing practices, education, and collaboration with the healthcare team.

  • Provides direct patient care, including monitoring vital signs, administering medications, performing wound care, obtaining specimens for laboratory examinations, and carrying out provider orders for routine treatments, in accordance with the state of Maryland Nurse Practice Act and Regulations.
  • Monitors patients for changes in condition and promptly reports concerns to supervising clinicians.
  • Collects patient health information and document assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately in the medical record.
  • Assists RNs and providers with examinations, procedures, and treatment plans.
  • Provides support for patient and family education regarding treatments, medications, and care plans.
  • Maintains infection control standards, safety protocols, and regulatory compliance.
  • Coordinates with interdisciplinary team members to ensure continuity and quality of care.
  • Maintains medical supplies, equipment, and inventory as needed.
  • Participates in quality improvement initiatives and staff meetings.
  • Performs all other related duties as assigned
Work Experience
  • Current licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse by the Maryland State Board of Examiners of Nurses is required.
  • Graduation from an accredited Practical Nursing Education Program approved by the State of Maryland is required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
