Licensed Practical Nurse-Cardiology-Per Diem

Position Summary: Assist physician with duties necessary to support the needs of the practice working within and to the maximum scope of license.

Education, License & Cert: LPN ‐ Must be licensed in the state of practice.

Experience: One‐year experience in healthcare field preferred but not required.

Essential Functions:

1. Direct patients to exam rooms, prepare them for exams or treatments, record vital signs, and obtain medical histories.
2. Write or call prescriptions after obtaining proper authorization, and document in patient charts.
3. Manage insurance referrals via email, fax, or phone, and follow up as needed.
4. Assist in departmental operations, answer calls, and perform clerical duties, including training in computer systems.
5. Maintain exam and procedure rooms, ensure supplies are available, and order medications or supplies as needed.
6. Administer prescribed injections/medications and document accordingly.
7. Guide patients to appropriate areas for testing or follow-up, and record lab tests.
8. Have basic knowledge of medications and review pathology results with patients.
9. Set up and break down sterile fields, and prepare surgical trays for procedures.
10. Assist surgeons during procedures in the office and OR if necessary.
11. Maintain infection control, including sterilization processes and equipment cleaning.
12. Perform dressing changes and suture removals, and assess signs of infection.
13. Follow hepatitis protocols to ensure safety for all involved.

Other Duties:

• Perform additional tasks as assigned within LPN scope.
• Participate in orientation, in-services, and mandatory training.
• Adhere to dress code policies.
• Attend department meetings and contribute to goals.

Pay range: $21.80 - $34.02/hour.
