Job summary

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) at UVA Health Culpeper provides direct patient care to oncology patients under the supervision of a licensed practitioner or RN, following Virginia Board of Nursing regulations and UVA policies.

Qualifications

JOB SUMMARY

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides direct patient care and clinical support to oncology patients under the direction or supervision of a Licensed Independent Practitioner (LIP) or Registered Nurse (RN), consistent with Virginia Board of Nursing regulations and UVA Health policies.

• Obtain and document vital signs, focused assessments, and symptom screening in Epic.
• Prepare patients for provider visits, procedures, and treatments.
• Perform peripheral and port lab draws
• Recognize, document, and elevate abnormal findings to RN/provider.
• Assist with infusion workflows and patient flow.
• Perform venipuncture and maintain peripheral IV access per competency.
• Administer approved medications per scope and UVA policy.
• Perform phlebotomy and specimen collection per policy

• Reinforce treatment plans and patient education

QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduate of an accredited Practical Nursing program.

Experience:

Licensure: Current Virginia LPN license. BLS certification (AHA).

Additional Skills/Requirements Required: Ability to multitask and prioritize quickly. Ability to communicate verbally and in written form

Additional Skills/Requirements Preferred

• Oncology or infusion experience.
• Chemotherapy/biotherapy competency validation.
• Epic experience

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Attention to detail and ability to write legibly. Ability to lift/push/pull 100 lbs. For any weight over 35 lbs., use Safe Handling Equipment. The base compensation range for this role is $22.31 - $34.37 hourly.

Individual compensation will be determined by the selected candidate's qualifications, previous work experience, and/or education. Please note that the pay range does not include any applicable incentive compensation programs such as shift differentials, clinical ladders, and other incentives that may be available for those in eligible positions.
