Job summary

AIMS Locum Tenens seeks a Licensed Practical Nurse to join the Kimbrough Ambulatory Care Center team at Fort Meade, MD. The LPN provides practical nursing care in an ambulatory military healthcare setting.

You will monitor patient conditions, administer prescribed medications and treatments, observe and document changes, educate patients and families, and support infection control and safety standards. The role is 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, with varied clinic hours.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Unrestricted LPN license.
• At least 1 year of practical/vocational nursing experience in the last 2 years.
• Current BLS certification.
• U.S. citizenship required.

Responsibilities

Job Overview

The LPN provides practical nursing care to patients in an ambulatory military healthcare environment. The position involves completing assigned patient-care activities, monitoring patient conditions, administering prescribed medications and treatments, assisting with diagnostic and specialized procedures, educating patients and families, and accurately documenting care.

Key Duties

• Provide assigned nursing care to different patient populations.
• Observe patients and accurately recognize, report, and document relevant clinical information.
• Administer prescribed oral, topical, subcutaneous, intramuscular and/or IV medications within authorized scope and established procedures.
• Provide equipment-assisted care and patient/family education.
• Prepare patients and assist with diagnostic tests and specialized procedures.
• Monitor patients before, during, and after procedures.
• Recognize urgent or emergency situations and obtain appropriate RN/physician assistance.
• Maintain accurate medical records and clinical documentation.
• Support infection-control, patient-safety, and quality requirements.
• Assist with orientation of peers and ancillary personnel.

Education

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. The PWS does not permit an education-equivalency substitution for this labor category.

Experience

The applicable DHA standard qualification requires at least 1 year of experience within the last 2 years as a Practical or Vocational Nurse.

Licensure

Must maintain a current, full/active, valid, and unrestricted nursing license. Note: the KACC LPN section contains an apparent drafting inconsistency referring to an "RN" license; the same section identifies the position as an LPN and its education requirement specifies licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse. The DHA standard qualification specifically requires an unrestricted practical/vocational nurse license.

Certification

Current BCLS/BLS through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross.

Citizenship

Must be a U.S. Citizen.

Strong practical nursing and patient-care skills; ability to administer medications safely; ability to recognize changes in patient condition and urgent situations; effective patient/family communication and education; accurate clinical documentation; and ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary healthcare team.

Schedule

• 40 hours per week
• Monday-Friday
• Typical shifts: 6:30 AM-3:00 PM, 7:30 AM-4:30 PM, or 9:00 AM-6:00 PM
• Meal break: 30 minutes to 1 hour, unpaid
• Federal holidays: Not required to work
• Exact shift may vary based on clinic/mission requirements

Work Environment

This position is based at Kimbrough Ambulatory Care Center, an outpatient military healthcare facility at Fort Meade. The LPN works directly with patients and alongside military, civilian, and contract healthcare professionals while following DoD, DHA, and MTF clinical and safety standards.

Additional Requirements

KACC LPNs are not designated emergency-essential and are not required to work federally recognized holidays under this Task Order. Situational telework is only authorized during qualifying unplanned closures when management determines it supports mission requirements.
