The Mayo Clinic is seeking a licensed practical nurse (LPN) at our Minnesota site to provide direct patient care under RN supervision. The LPN will deliver care per the patient care plan, communicate findings, and participate in a collaborative health care team. Strong verbal and written communication, teamwork, and adaptability are essential.

Location: Gonda 7 South, Ambulatory Urology. Salary ranges from $24.55 to $35.65 per hour, with full-time schedule, daytime hours, and comprehensive Mayo

Qualifications

• Graduate of a school of practical nursing or passed LPN boards; must have current LPN license.
• One year LPN experience in urology preferred; strong communication and teamwork required.
• Able to work flexible hours and adapt to unpredictable situations.
• Experience with EMR systems preferred.

Responsibilities

Location:Gonda 7 South, Ambulatory Urology

The licensed practical nurse (LPN) provides nursing care to assigned patients under the direct supervision of the registered nurse (RN) or other assigned supervisor and accepts delegation from the RN/assigned supervisor in meeting the needs of the patient/family. The LPN collects data through observation and communicates information to assist the RN and/or provider in patient assessment and care planning. The LPN participates as a member of the health care team and accepts delegation from the RN/assigned supervisor and provider in meeting needs of the patient/family. The LPN delivers care in accordance with the patient care plan, policies and procedures of the organization and principles of relationship-based care. The LPN possesses excellent communication skills; is skillful in mentoring and instructing; and may participate on committees or projects, including quality improvement projects.

Qualifications

Graduate of a school of practical nursing or passed LPN Boards after a defined period in a professional nursing program (e.g., some states allow RN students to take the LPN board exam after completing one to two years in the RN program). If graduation did not occur within the last two years, one year of LPN experience working in an applicable setting is required.

Additional Qualifications:

Urology experience helpful. One year LPN experience within the last five years preferred. Excellent communication skills (verbal and written). Experience working in a team environment. Computer skills required, prior experience with electronic medical record systems preferred. Ability to work flexible hours. Ability to adapt to unpredictable situations within the work setting. Graduate of an accredited school of practical nursing preferred.

Current LPN license by applicable state requirements.

BLS (Basic Life Support) must be valid for 90 days post start date; acceptable certifications include: American Heart Association (AHA)/ Heartcode BLS, Military Training Network, Red Cross (CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and Health Care Providers).

Additional state licensure(s) and/or specialty certification/training as required by the work area
