Job summary

Schweiger Dermatology Group is seeking a Full-Time Licensed Practical Nurse (Allergy) for the Throgg's Neck Office in New York. The role involves administering allergy treatments and shots, preparing testing materials, and maintaining immunotherapy supplies within a busy dermatology practice.

Ideal candidates hold an LPN license, have allergy experience, and are proficient with EMR, Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an LPN program approved by the state Education Department.
• Must pass the NCLEX-PN examination.
• CPR and AED certifications required.
• Experience using EMR software and patient scheduling systems.

Responsibilities

• Administer prescribed medications and treatments, including allergy shots, under supervision.
• Prepare supplies for allergy testing and treatments.
• Perform lung function testing (FeNO and Spirometry) with/without bronchodilators.
• Maintain immunotherapy room, ensure cleanliness and readiness.
• Assure patient records are accurately documented in EMR and HIPAA compliant.

The Licensed Practical Nurse - Allergy will provide a high level of general care and education to patients by using their knowledge and skills to promote the goal of The Ultimate Patient Experience. Previous allergy experience required.Schedule: Full time, 30+ hours. Availability Monday through Friday with rotating Saturdays within operating hours of 7:00am-7:30pm. Open Flexibility to help cover in a team environment is needed.Licensed Practical Nurse - AllergyPromote a professional and welcoming atmosphere to enhance the quality of service and care offered to patients and for respective provider(s).Provide general care and education to patients in accordance with OSHA regulations.Administer prescribed medications and treatments, including allergy shots, under the direct or indirect supervision from a provider.Prepare necessary supplies for allergy testing and treatments.Perform lung function testing (FeNO and Spirometry) with and without bronchodilators.Assist in the interpretation of patch testing results and perform placement and removal as directed by an RN or provider.Maintain the immunotherapy room with necessary supplies and materials, ensuring cleanliness.Administer allergy shots and ensuring provider is on site.Observes, records and reports patients’ vitals and reactions to treatments.Assesses patients’ needs and suggest solutions to patient care problems.Supervise triaging of patient communications (through email and/or portal).Maintains accurate patient records, document all visits in EMR.Assures patient stays for required observation time after injections.Learn and perform immunotherapy vial mixing procedures and proper documentation in accordance with current regulations.Reacts appropriately in patient reaction situations, informs physician and/or other clinical staff as necessary to mitigate adverse reactions.Assist providers in recording prescribed treatments, medications, lab requisitions, prescriptions, prior authorization (including biologics), and procedures within established guidelines.Understand provider to patient flow and anticipate provider’s next steps to the best of their ability.Demonstrate clinical competence and sound knowledge base in the provision of quality patient care.Ensure allergy test sets and emergency kits are filled, current, and up to date.Confirm that insurance benefits have been verified prior to the preparation of allergy serums.Regularly interact with physicians, other providers, and staff to identify and resolve problems.Maintain knowledge of trends and developments in the field by reading appropriate articles, journals, and related materials; and by attending seminars and conferences as needed.Report improperly operating medical equipment and instruments to the supervisor.Perform inventory responsibilities, including but not limited to, ordering and stocking of supplies and equipment as requested.QualificationsPrevious Allergy experience required.Graduate from an LPN education program approved by the respective state Education Department.Pass the NCLEX-PN examination.Active LPN license in the state working in required.CPR and AED Certifications required.Experience using EMR software and patient scheduling systems.Must be computer savvy and familiar with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.Excellent patient relations and customer service skills.Open availability to work during weekdays.Working knowledge of HIPAA & OSHA compliance.Pay Range: $38.04 - $47.55Schweiger, is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate in its hiring process with applicants, whether internal or external, because of race, creed, color, age, national origin, ancestry, religion, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, genetic information, veteran status, military status, application for military service or any other class per local, state or federal law.Schweiger does not require vaccination for COVID-19 in order to be considered for employment; however, some state guidelines may require that we keep record of your vaccination status on file.
