Job summary

USA Health in Mobile, AL seeks a Licensed Practical Nurse to support exams and procedures, record vital signs, administer medications, and maintain patient records. The role emphasizes infection control and safe clinical practice within a team of healthcare professionals.

You will work 20+ hours per week in a regular shift pattern with benefits; Alabama LPN license and BCLS are required upon hire, with possible substitution for experience.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited school of practical nursing meeting the minimum standards set by the State of Alabama Required.
• Licensure with the State of Alabama as a Licensed Practical Nurse Upon Hire Required.
• BCLS - Basic Life Support Upon Hire Required.
• Comparable combination of education and experience may substitute for the above requirements.

Responsibilities

• Assists registered nurse and/or physicians with exams and procedures
• Takes and records temperature, pulse, respiration and blood pressure
• Administers medications and injections according to orders
• Maintains patient records
• Performs various routine tests and procedures, including dipstick urinalysis, hematocrits, EKGs, tympanometry, audiometry, inhalation therapy, pregnancy tests, and blood glucose
• Maintains inventories of clinical supplies and medications
• Ensures that patient examination rooms are ready for use by patients, and that rooms are stocked with supplies and equipment
• Completes call backs to parents/guardians of patients by phone
• Calls prescriptions to pharmacies
• Prepares lab, X-ray request and referral forms
• Completes all mandatory department, educational and hospital requirements
• Adheres to current Infection Control and Safety Standards
• Regular and prompt attendance
• Ability to work schedule as defined and overtime as required
• Related duties as assigned

Employees must be in a regular position, working 20 hours or more per week (.50 FTE or greater) to qualify for benefits.
