Job summary

B Positive Plasma is seeking an experienced LPN/Paramedic to join our donation team as we expand operations. The role requires working Monday through Friday, with a $3,000 sign-on bonus and competitive pay.

The successful candidate will conduct donor health assessments, maintain records, provide counseling and support for donors, and collaborate with leadership in a fast-paced environment. Equal opportunity employer and on-site facility.

Qualifications

  • Current nursing (LPN)/Paramedic license in good standing for state applying for.
  • Current CPR, BLS certification.
  • High school diploma or equivalent, associates, bachelors degree, or above (must provide documentation).

Responsibilities

  • Assist with donor counseling, testing, and follow-up of exposures to blood/plasma.

B Positive is a blood plasma donation facility seeking an experienced LPN/Paramedic to join our growing team as we expand.

Job Type

Full-time

Availability & Compensation

Need to have availability Monday - Friday. Competitive Pay PLUS a $3,000 Sign-on Bonus.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Selection of suitable plasmapheresis donors by performing physical examinations and taking medical histories on all donors, and through the use of FDA approved Standard Operating Procedure Manual (with particular detailed attention to communications related to AIDS information and plasmapheresis informed consent), current State and Federal guidelines, OSHA, CLIA, cGMP, all internal company procedures and personal education and experience
  • Timely review of accumulated data to confirm established donor suitability, by reviewing and signing all SPE and RPR results and the related Donor Record File, documenting acceptance or rejection for the donor's continued participation in the program
  • Assist with management and administration of donor counseling, testing, and follow-up of employee exposures to blood or plasma
  • Provide appropriate and confidential counseling to unacceptable donors
  • Provide appropriate level of care during unusual and moderate to severe donor reactions
  • Assist in employee training as necessary
  • Consult with Medical/Laboratory Director as required by company policies
  • Assist in other areas when needed, such as vitals, donor registration, lab processing, phlebotomy (if applicable)Report all unsafe situations or conditions to supervisor
  • Available to travel up to 25 miles to other facility(ies) for training or assisting other center's staffing needs
  • Other duties as assigned
Requirements
Education and Experience
  • Current nursing (LPN)/Paramedic license in good standing for state applying for
  • Current CPR, BLS certification
  • High school diploma or equivalent, associates, bachelors degree, or above (must provide documentation)
Required Skills & Abilities
  • Ability to read and write English
  • Phlebotomy experience a plus
  • Basic proficiency in computer operations (Microsoft Word)
  • Legible handwriting
  • Customer service skills
  • Punctual, reliable, and have reliable transportation
Physical Requirements
  • Read computer screens, procedure manuals and other documents
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Hear doorbells, alarms, telephone, and other mechanical devices
  • Work confidently while being observed during frequent quality inspections
  • Work in walk in - Subzero freezer(s)
  • Ability to lift, pull, tug up to 50 pounds to stock supplies and/or move or support donors
  • Regularly required to use hands and fingers, to handle & feel objects, tools and controls; reach with hands and arms.
  • Vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
  • Required to stand for extended intervals, walk, climb and balance; stoop, kneel and crouch.
  • Physical ability to operate equipment used on donor floor areas that may require repetitive motion and manual dexterity.
  • Ability to read while standing or sitting in front of a computer for short periods of time.
  • Must wear personal protective equipment (PPE) required such as eyewear, lab coats, and gloves
