Job summary

Sisters of Mercy in Savannah, GA is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse to provide dignified, compassionate nursing care to our retired Sisters. This on-site role offers hourly pay and the chance to contribute to a ministry of care that values dignity and quality of life.

You will follow individualized care plans, administer medications, monitor vital signs, and communicate with the care team to ensure safe, respectful treatment.

Responsibilities

• Follow nursing plans of care and administer medications within scope.
• Monitor residents' vital signs and document progress.
• Report changes to nursing leadership promptly.
• Respond to call lights and complete shift-change reports.
• Follow infection control and safety procedures and PPE use.
• Assist with transfers, mobility, and activities with proper body mechanics.
• Maintain a safe, clean environment and report hazards.
• Communicate professionally with residents, families, coworkers, and leadership.
• Support staffing and on-call duties, including weekends and holidays.

What You’ll Do

• Follow individualized nursing and medical plans of care, administering medications and treatments within your scope of practice.
• Monitor and document residents’ vital signs, symptoms, progress, and responses to care.
• Recognize and promptly report changes in residents’ physical or mental conditions to the Director of Nursing or supervising nurse.
• Respond to call lights promptly and courteously, reinforce routine patient education, and complete shift-change reports.
• Follow infection control and safety procedures, including proper PPE use, hand hygiene, and safe handling of equipment and supplies.
• Assist with resident transfers, mobility, and other activities using proper body mechanics and lifting equipment.
• Help maintain a safe, clean, and comfortable environment, reporting hazards and equipment concerns promptly.
• Respond calmly and resourcefully to emergencies and communicate professionally with Sisters, families, visitors, coworkers, and leadership.
• Demonstrate initiative, support staffing coverage and on‑call nursing duties as needed, and work assigned rotating schedules, including weekends and holidays.
