Job summary

Great Circle Recovery - Opioid Treatment Program in Salem, OR is seeking a licensed practical nurse to support clinicians in delivering comprehensive care to clients in a recovery setting.

You will monitor patient status, collect specimens, administer medications, and document activities while coordinating with a multidisciplinary team to ensure safety and adherence to protocols.

Qualifications

  • Requires a current unencumbered Oregon LPN license.
  • Requires two years’ healthcare experience including one year in a clinical setting; recovery environment preferred.
  • CPR/BLS certification required or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment.
  • Knowledge of LPN scope of practice and ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Experience with electronic health records and basic medical software.

Responsibilities

  • Assist clinical staff in providing care to program clients.
  • Monitor medical status and vital signs; report to multidisciplinary team.
  • Coordinate treatment with licensed medical professionals and report status.
  • Administer and review PPD and collect urine samples; perform rapid toxicology screening.
  • Perform daily dispensing functions and monitor medication side effects.
  • Maintain dosing documentation in the Methasoft system.
  • Collaborate with dental, mental health and chemical dependency teams for whole-person care.
  • Ensure privacy and confidentiality; follow safety protocols and documentation standards.
  • May perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Description

Starting wage $36.01/hr-$46.31/hr.

Essential Functions:

  • Assists clinical professional staff in providing care to clients of the program.
  • Recognizes office medical emergencies and coordinates treatment within the multidisciplinary team; and follows licensed medical professional guidelines.
  • Contacts licensed medical professional for newly admitted clients, to report medical status and request individual medication orders.
  • Monitors client medical status, measures patient vital signs and performs basic routine medical procedures.
  • Follows established protocols and documents all processes and procedures correctly.
  • Identifies issues or concerns regarding client safety and well-being.
  • Provides support and care coordination for client lab results as requested by clinical team.
  • Administers and reviews PPD (Tuberculosis testing for purified protein derivative).
  • Collects urine samples, performs rapid toxicology screening, and collects blood samples.
  • Performs daily dispensing functions and monitors clients for medication side effects.
  • Ensures proper identification measures are followed, along with documentation for all dosing through Methasoft system.
  • Maintains dialogue with other health care professionals (dental, mental health, chemical dependency, etc.) to promote and facilitate comprehensive healthcare services i.e. whole person-centered care throughout the recovery environment.
  • Performs a variety of other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Education, Experience, and Licenses:

  • Requires a current unencumbered Oregon Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license.
  • Requires two (2) years’ experience in Healthcare preferably as a Licensed Practical Nurse to include one (1) year experience in a clinical setting. Experience in a recovery environment preferred.
  • Practical training in phlebotomy preferred.
  • OR equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Driving Requirements:

  • This position may require driving.

Qualifications, Registrations, and Certifications:

  • Current CPR/BLS required, or ability to obtain certification and must maintain within 30 days of employment and maintain throughout employment.

Must have knowledge of Licensed Practical Nursing scope of practice.

  • Requires two (2) years abstinence from alcohol and chemical dependency (if recovering person).
  • Ability to collaborate across multiple systems.
  • Requires working knowledge and proficiency in use of office equipment and computer software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook.
  • Must have the ability to resolve conflict while utilizing conflict management philosophies.
  • Must be detail oriented with ability to handle high client volumes.
  • Must have excellent customer service skills and be able to respond courteously and tactfully to complaints and client requests, and to maintain confidentiality.
  • Must have the ability to work at times with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to operate and maintain medical equipment within the clinic.
  • Must have knowledge and experience in use of computerized electronic health records and software applications.
  • Working knowledge of sterile technique and special procedures applicable to care delivered.
  • Requires working knowledge of sanitation, personal hygiene, and basic health and safety precautions applicable to health clinic setting.
  • Adherences to the organization’s policies and procedures covering the privacy, access, and patient health information in compliance with Federal and state laws.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients and clinic staff.
  • Must have excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and record keeping skills.
  • Knowledge of and sensitivity to Native American culture required.

Environmental Factors and Conditions/Physical Requirements:

  • Continually requires the ability to express or receive detailed information or important instructions through oral communication.
  • Continually requires working with fingers rather than the whole hand or arm. Requires repetitive movement of wrists, hands and/or fingers. Often requires walking or moving about to accomplish tasks.
  • Requires standing and/or sitting for sustained periods, raising objects from a lower to a higher position and/or moving objects horizontally.
  • Continually requires the use of vision, specifically close vision, color identification and depth perception.
  • Occasionally requires lifting of up to 40 pounds.
  • Due to the nature of the interactions with other employees and the public we serve, employees may be required to provide documentation of, or receive, certain health vaccinations.
  • This position is frequently subject to inside environmental conditions which provide protection from weather conditions, but not necessarily from temperature changes, and is occasionally subject to outside environmental conditions.
  • Frequently exposed to bodily fluids and potentially toxic substances.
  • Frequently required to wear personal protective equipment such as gloves and eye protection.
  • Continually required to handle soiled laundry.
  • Occasionally exposed to compressed gases and detergents.
  • May be called upon to serve as a Disaster Reservist during emergencies.
  • Local travel is occasionally required. Travel outside of the state is infrequently required.
