Job summary

Educational Alliance is seeking a full-time Licensed Practical Nurse for the Center for Recovery and Wellness in Lower Manhattan. The LPN will conduct client assessments, administer medications, provide psychoeducation, and collaborate with the treatment team to support recovery and wellness goals.

Responsibilities include monitoring medical status, following physician orders, maintaining accurate records, and assisting with medication tracking.

Qualifications

  • Licensed Practical Nurse with NYS license and BLS required.
  • 2 years' experience with substance abuse/dual-diagnosis populations preferred.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of client records.

Responsibilities

  • Assess medical status of clients and refer for outside care when needed.
  • Perform ongoing and administrative nursing tasks.
  • Administer medications and monitor for adverse effects.
  • Support residents and oversee self-medication documentation.
  • Maintain stock of medical supplies and equipment.

The Center for Recovery and Wellness takes a holistic, strengths-based approach to recovery and wellness that responds to the distinct needs of each individual. Programs include residential and outpatient addiction treatment, recovery services, prevention education, and community programming. CRW offers culturally competent, evidence-based programs and services that strengthen individuals and communities, enhance resiliency, and foster lasting recovery.

We are seeking a full-time experienced Licensed Practical Nurse to perform nursing duties including client assessment, medication administration and oversight, and psychoeducation. The LPN will effectively interreact with clients, visitors, and other treatment team members while maintaining standards of professional nursing.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Direct Services
  • Assess the medical status of existing clients, and refer them for outside medical care when appropriate
  • Perform ongoing assessments
  • Monitor the physical health needs of patients receiving ancillary withdrawal services
  • Follow physician orders in a timely manner and maintain high standards of client care
  • Administer medications as prescribed and monitor for adverse effects
  • Available for support to residents and for oversight and documentation of assisted self‑medication
  • Dispose of all discontinued medication in compliance with regulations
  • Participate in the orientation of clients to the program and facility
Administrative Tasks
  • Interact with medical health care providers, oversee medical appointments, referrals, and follow‑up appointments
  • Maintain the standards of accurate and complete recording and reporting of client files
  • Responsible for maintaining adequate stock of supplies and equipment
  • Assist in maintaining systems for medication tracking and any data reporting related to client medical/health information
  • Serce as primary point of contact for external organizations and vendors used primarily by the Medical Office
Other
  • Attend regularly scheduled staff and program meetings; attend professional and community meetings to effectively secure available services for clients.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned. Perform special projects and other duties as assigned.
  • Provide health and wellness, nutrition, and risk reduction groups/seminars as scheduled
  • Perform functions as member of the Health Education team, who will ensure the provision of education, risk reduction, counseling, and referral services to all residents regarding HIV and AIDS, tuberculosis, hepatitis, sexually transmitted diseases, and other communicable diseases.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) with a valid New York State license and BLS certificate required
  • 2 years' experience working with substance abuse and dual-diagnosis populations required
  • Ability to maintain the confidentiality of records and information
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skill; team player, able to multi‑task and handle challenging situations
  • Competency with computer based programs such as Microsoft Word, Outlook email, Relias, and Electronic Health records.
