Job summary

Blue View Builder is seeking a licensed Land Surveyor to support residential, modular, commercial, and infrastructure projects across Southern California. The role combines fieldwork with remote/office duties and involves boundary, topographic, ALTA/NSPS surveys, and legal descriptions.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of California surveying experience, a PLS license (or LSIT with licensure path), and proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, GPS/GNSS workflows, and MS Office.

Qualifications

• Active California PLS license strongly preferred (or LSIT with path to licensure).
• 5+ years progressive land surveying experience in California, preferably Southern California.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D, survey data processing software, GPS/GNSS workflows, and Microsoft Office.
• Strong knowledge of California land surveying laws, practices, and mapping standards.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently in the field and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Perform and/or supervise field surveys using Total Station, GPS/GNSS, digital levels, and related equipment for boundary, topographic, control, and construction staking work.
• Conduct title research, boundary analysis, and resolve discrepancies in accordance with California Land Surveyors’ Act and Subdivision Map Act.
• Prepare, review, and stamp Records of Survey, Corner Records, ALTA/NSPS Land Title Surveys, subdivision maps, legal descriptions, and exhibits.
• Establish and maintain horizontal and vertical control networks; prepare construction staking calculations, cut sheets, and as-built documentation.
• Coordinate with in-house engineers, architects, contractors, clients, and public agencies.
• Manage survey project schedules, and field crew coordination.
• Travel to project sites across Southern California as required (day trips common; occasional overnight travel possible).
• Ensure all work complies with California Professional Land Surveyor standards, local agency requirements, and company quality procedures.
• Support proposals, cost estimates, and client communication for surveying scopes.
