Job summary

AccentCare is seeking a Physical Therapy Assistant in the San Diego area to support Lakeside, Alpine, Jamul, Spring Valley, and Santee with a Monday–Friday schedule (8am–5pm), PRN coverage up to 28 hours/week.

Under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist, you will provide treatment, educate patients and families, maintain documentation, and collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to optimize patient outcomes.

Qualifications

• Associates degree from an accredited school of Physical Therapy.
• Must possess and maintain valid CPR certification while employed in a clinical role.
• Must be a licensed driver who can travel to all business locations.
• Be able to implement care plans and communicate findings to the Physical Therapist and physician.
• Ability to educate patients and their families in basic home safety and medical equipment safety.

Responsibilities

• Provides patient care and documents treatment per physicians orders and patient needs.
• Documents interventions, approaches, materials, and treatment priorities.
• Delivers organized and efficient patient treatment including education and counseling.
• Presents patient information to supervising therapist and keeps the team informed of status.
• Provides skilled treatment per patient needs within agency and payer parameters.
• Seeks assistance from team members in treatment planning and intervention.
• Documents daily notes and completes required forms to prevent interruptions in patient care.
• Meets agency productivity standards and uses work hours efficiently.
• Attends and participates in agency meetings and committees.
• Negotiates patient participation, treatment times, and plans.

What You Need to Know

The Physical Therapy Assistant, under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist, is responsible for providing treatment to patients, functioning as a member of the interdisciplinary team, provides patient and family education and counseling regarding concerns, planning, implementing and modifying treatment procedures, maintaining appropriate documentation according to policies and procedures and current standards of practice. The Physical Therapist Assistant manages a caseload in conjunction with supervising therapist and in accordance with agency productivity standards, attends and participates in patient and other conferences and agency in-services as assigned.

• Presents pertinent patient information to supervising therapist and keeps team informed of patient status.
• Provides appropriate skilled treatment to patients according to patient needs and within the parameters set by the agency and payer.
• Seeks and accepts assistance from team members in treatment planning and intervention.
• Accurately documents, completes and submits daily notes, assists with other required forms in a timely manner to prevent interruptions in patient care.
• Meets agency productivity standards and uses work hours efficiently.
• Attends and participates in agency meetings and committees as assigned.
• Appropriately negotiates the patient' s participation in treatment, treatment times and treatment plans.
