Job summary

Paycom is seeking a Phlebotomist to collect blood samples and correctly label them for testing. The role requires CPR certification, a phlebotomy license, and at least one year of experience. You will interact with diverse patients, maintain infection control, and ensure accurate data entry in the EMR system.

The ideal candidate is professional, organized, and capable of handling a high patient volume while supporting Providers with patient care within the clinic.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Certification in CPR.
• Phlebotomy license required.
• Minimum one year of phlebotomy experience.
• Experience with puncture techniques.
• Computer proficiency.
• EMR experience desirable.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients professionally and promptly identify them.
• Draw blood using needles and equipment.
• Label samples accurately and prepare for testing.
• Determine best blood draw method per patient.
• Handle a high volume of patients with diverse backgrounds.
• Complete and enter data into patient records and forms timely.
• Follow infection control standards at all times.
• Maintain supplies in lab and exam rooms.
• Attend required meetings and participate in team activities.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job description

Under the direction of the Medical Unit Manager, the Phlebotomist takes blood samples from patients and adequately labels them with their information. They conduct a wide range of tests to identify underlying conditions to assist Providers with diagnosis and patient care. The Phlebotomist offers assistance to the providers for necessary patient care services within the scope of the clinic.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Greets all patients in a professional and friendly manner.Identifying patients via ID, medical record or other meansDrawing blood using needles and other equipmentLabeling samples correctly and send them for testingDecipher the best method for drawing blood depending on the specific patientExpect to work with a large number of patients varying in age and health statusCompletes necessary document accurately for all lab work.Completes & enters data into patient’s records and submits all forms in a timely manner.Practice infection control standards at all times when working with patients and equipmentMaintains medical unit supplies in laboratory and exam rooms.Attends and participates in meetings as required.Other duties as assigned.High School Diploma or equivalentCertification in CPRPhlebotomy License requiredMinimum one year of Phlebotomy experienceExperience with effective puncture techniquesAbility to work with people of diverse cultural, educational, social, and economic backgrounds.Ability to work independently and a self-starter with minimal supervisionExcellent oral and written communication skillsExcellent organizational skillsComputer proficiencyExperience utilizing an Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system is highly desirableBilingual preferred
