Munson Healthcare in Manistee, MI is seeking a licensed pharmacy technician to assist pharmacists with patient care activities, medication preparation, inventory management, and clinical documentation. The role requires a Michigan license (or temporary) with full licensure within 90 days, and a HS diploma or GED.

Schedule is 7:00am to 5:30pm with holiday and weekend rotations. Vaccination requirements apply per policy. Training and aseptic technique experience are a plus.

Licensed pharmacy technicians assist pharmacists in performing patient care activities including preparing and distributing medications, maintaining the medication inventory, and supporting clinical documentation related to medication therapies. Licensed pharmacy technicians are part of the first line to providing safe high-quality pharmaceutical care to our patients.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Repetitive use of hands and fingers (e.g., preparing IV admixtures, use of a computer keyboard); may require lifting and carrying of light loads (up to 40lbs), including boxes, equipment, unit-dose cassettes, and IV solutions, and stooping or kneeling (e.g., to pick up items from the floor, to remove and replace items on lower shelves, and to file documents in lower file drawers); walking or standing for long periods of time (4-8 hours) is often necessary; must be able to physically operate the equipment used for the job!

Qualifications

What’s Required

  • Pharmacy Technician License issued by the State of Michigan or a temporary license by starting date and fulllicensure within 180 days of hire date.PTCBCertification(CPhT credential)preferduedpon hire and is required within 90 days of hire.
  • High school diploma (or G.E.D. equivalent)
    • Courses in chemistry and biology preferred.
    • Pharmacy Technician Associate of Artsdegree, Associates degree with pharmacy experience,Bachelor’s degreepreferred.
  • 1 year of pharmacy experience
  • General clerical skills.
  • Must have legible handwriting and/or printing.
  • Must have numerical comprehension and mathematical skills.
  • Ability to communicate verbally, comprehends verbal instructions, and has good telephone etiquette.
  • Failure to obtainfulllicensewithin 180 dayswill result in termination of employment.
    • (unless starting in our Pharmacy Tech Trainee program)

  • Training, knowledge and experience in aseptic technique and intravenous admixture preparation is desired.
  • Knowledge of medications, medicalnomenclatureand ability to read physicians’ orders is desirable.
  • Knowledge of how hospitalsoperateand function is desirable.
  • Good visual, manual dexterity, and physical ability to withstand the majority of shift on feet, moving around.
  • Experience with on-line computer systems is desirable.

Schedule: Hours between 7:00am - 5:30pm,Holiday and weekend rotations required

Location: Manistee, MI

Munson Healthcare requires all employees be vaccinated or have lab confirmed immunity for Measles, Mumps, Rubella and Varicella. MHC also requires all employees to receive a flu vaccine during the flu season in the year that they are hired and annually thereafter, or receive an approved medical or religious exemption.
