Job Summary

Responsible for dispensing spectacles and other optical products, to both adults and children, working with prescriptions written by optometrists and ophthalmologists. This position advises and assists patients with various types of lenses and spectacle frames, including style, weight, and color.

The pay range advertised for this position does not include additional compensation paid out through our spiff program.

Major Tasks, Responsibilities, And Key Accountabilities

• Verifies order data entry, compares Rx to original Rx provided by the doctor, and ensures all information is accurate. Completes proper order filing procedures, including filing the order under the correct ABC system in the store.
• Delivers sales by providing excellent Member service in person and over the phone. Explains procedures under the exam fee; communicates openly and maintains a friendly, pleasant demeanor at all times.
• Takes measurements, ensures correct frame selection for Rx power, reads prescriptions on the lensometer, notifies product readiness timely, and advances the order in the system (received, notified, dispense). Handles all money-related transactions properly.
• Strives to deliver sales and metric goals by educating patients on available products and recommending those that meet their visual needs.
• Engages with members during downtime in Optical.
• Adheres to all privacy and confidential/proprietary company policies (HIPAA) as required by law. Provides support to Members for eyeglass adjustments and repairs.
• Assists Optical Manager with opening and closing procedures. Ensures accurate fund collection and payments at the point of service.
• Maintains all club policies and procedures. Performs other duties as assigned. Regular, predictable attendance is an essential function of this job.

Qualifications

• Must be licensed to work as an optician within the State and keep license up to date and active.
• Knowledge of optical products and business practices preferred.
• High school diploma, college degree, and/or big box wholesale, retail, and/or optical experience is preferred.
• Strong interpersonal skills, organizational skills and attention to detail required.
• Open shift availability required for full-time positions.
• At least 18 years of age.

Environmental Job Conditions

• Mostly moving about on hard surfaces; may need to bend, reach, and handle items; occasional lifting up to 20 pounds and more with assistance.
• Located in a comfortable indoor area with exposure to temperature extremes and loud noises; occasional exposure to cleaning agents.
• Requires use of optical hand tools to adjust and repair eyeglasses, including nose pads and small screws.
