General Function

A licensed Optician at Sunglass Hut serves as an ambassador of the brand, delivering great service through the Sunglass Hut Experience. The role includes on‑floor leadership, filling ophthalmic sunglass prescriptions, fitting and adapting lenses and frames, and performing all related functions to support store operations and sales goals.

Major Duties And Responsibilities

• Welcome all customers and set expectations
• Custom fit glasses and precisely place prescriptions in lenses
• Act as a leader in optical acumen
• Take and record measurements, accurately adjust and fit eyewear with attention to detail, ensuring finished eyewear meets standards and customer needs
• Assist team with complex product needs and prescriptions
• Use technology efficiently under time pressure and high customer volume, demonstrating exceptional product knowledge and tool proficiency
• Explore root causes of issues and provide solutions to exceed customer expectations
• Multi‑task, prioritize, and manage time with competing priorities
• Strive to achieve exceptional results on brand KPIs and competencies
• Maintain store appearance, keeping it clean, attractive, and organized
• Be resourceful and self‑motivated with a desire for continual learning, improvement, and results
• Adhere to company policies and procedures, including discounts, promotions, and inventory management

Basic Qualifications

• High School graduate or equivalent
• State licensure in opticianry
• Optical dispensing experience
• Strong customer service skills: communicator, listener, and team builder
• Knowledge of current store merchandise
• Strong basic math skills
• Aware of current fashion trends
• Selling skills – ability to use and carry an iPad or tablet
• Familiarity with POS, computers, and calculators
• Embrace new technology and change

• Previous customer service and retail experience
