General Function

Provides exceptional patient experiences through the selection of eyewear, accurate measurements, ordering, and fitting the patient to fulfill all their eyewear needs. Supports establishing the practice as the premier destination for all vision needs within the community.

Major Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Custom fits glasses and precisely places prescriptions in lenses.
  2. Acts as a leader in optical knowledge, providing a voice for peers.
  3. Takes and records measurements, adjusts or fits eyewear correctly, ensuring finished eyewear meets standards and patient requirements.
  4. Explores the needs and priorities of patients by asking open-ended questions.
  5. Assists peers with difficult or complex product needs and prescriptions.
  6. Anticipates problems, explores underlying reasons for patient issues, and strives to develop long-term solutions, ensuring patient satisfaction and exceeding expectations. Acts quickly for resolution and partners with management as necessary.
  7. Manages multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
  8. Operates the point-of-sale system, inputting patient information accurately.
  9. Commits to delivery dates and times, seeks feedback, and asks for referrals.
  10. Owns individual and team goals to achieve exceptional results.
  11. Presents, celebrates, and educates at the time of dispense.
  12. Maintains a clean, attractive, and organized dispensary, secures company assets.
  13. Collaborates effectively with doctors and practice staff to ensure high-level patient care partnership.
  14. Informs management of safety opportunities and demonstrates safe work practices.
  15. Possesses a proactive 'can do' spirit, strong drive for results, and a desire for continual learning.
  16. Adheres to company policies, including discounting, promotions, and inventory management.
  17. Works weekends and evenings as needed.
  18. Maintains proper attendance and timekeeping, follows all policies and procedures.
  19. Builds positive relationships with the practice, communicating concerns promptly.
  20. Maintains proper dress code.
  21. Performs other duties as assigned by the manager or as needed.
Basic Qualifications
  1. High School diploma or equivalent.
  2. Active state optical license, with ongoing license maintenance.
  3. Strong customer service skills: communication, listening, team building.
  4. Basic math skills.
  5. Sales skills.
  6. Embraces new technology and change.
Preferred Qualifications
  1. Familiarity with technology such as point-of-sale systems, patient record systems, and other software applications.
