Job summary

Kensington-Health-and-Reha in Mobile, AL is seeking an Occupational Therapist to provide comprehensive OT services to facility patients/residents.

You will screen, evaluate, and treat under physician orders, develop and implement treatment plans, and supervise therapy staff. You will participate in interdisciplinary meetings, ensure documentation and billing accuracy, and support staff training while maintaining patient confidentiality.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Occupational Therapy.
  • Current state license.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of therapy treatment and evaluation principles, techniques, materials, and equipment utilization.
  • Knowledge of state and federal accreditation standards.

Responsibilities

  • Screening, evaluation, and treatment of facility patients/residents needing Occupational Therapy services.
  • Reviews medical information and conducts screenings prior to evaluations to determine patient need for services.
  • Performs patient’s evaluations under physician order and develops a treatment plan in accordance with patient’s needs.
  • Implements treatment plan through direct treatment, education of treatment staff, and supervision of occupational therapy staff.
  • Attends interdisciplinary meetings and family meetings, as appropriate.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all patient, facility, and related information.
  • Maintains accurate billing information in accordance with facility procedures daily.
  • Conducts staff training/education as appropriate via formal and informal services.
  • Reviews and follows facility policies and Rehabilitation, Inc.

Job description

Qualifications: The Occupational Therapist must: have a Bachelors and/or Master’s Degree in Occupational Therapy, have current state license, have excellent oral and written communication skills, demonstrate competency in therapy treatment and evaluation principles, techniques, materials, and equipment utilization, and demonstrate knowledge of state and federal accreditation standards.

The Occupational Therapist:
  • Assumes responsibility for the screening, evaluation, and treatment of facility patients/residents needing Occupational Therapy services
  • Reviews medical information and conducts screenings prior to evaluations to determine patient need for services and ability to benefit from skilled services
  • Performs patient’s evaluations under physician order and develops a treatment plan in accordance with patient’s needs
  • Implements treatment plan through direct treatment, education of treatment staff, and supervision of occupational therapy staff
  • Assumes responsibility for continual professional growth and development by participating in continuing education programs and other appropriate learning experiences
  • Maintains confidentiality of all patient, facility, and physical related information
  • Maintains accurate billing information in accordance with facility procedures on a daily basis
  • Attends and participates in interdisciplinary meetings, as appropriate, to relay clinical findings and recommendations to other members of the rehab team
  • Attends and participates in family meetings, as appropriate
  • Adheres to documentation requirements of Rehabilitation department and the facility
  • Conducts staff training/education, as appropriate, via formal and informal services and consultations
  • Reviews and follows the policies and procedures outlined by the facility and Rehabilitation, Inc.
  • Supervises Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants and rehabilitation aides/extenders as indicated by patient needs and state laws and discipline practice act
  • Supervises non-professional staff, as appropriate
