Job summary

Elliot Health System in Manchester, NH is hiring a Licensed Nursing Assistant for the CICU Surge Unit. This full-time night role (36 hours) features 12-hour shifts (7pm-7am) with every-other-weekend commitments and a $3,000 bonus eligible paid in 3, 6, and 12 months.

The LNA will support direct and indirect patient care under RN supervision, assist with activities of daily living, and help maintain patient safety and comfort on a cardiac/telemetry unit.

Qualifications

• Two years of acute care experience preferred.
• Current New Hampshire Nursing Assistant License required.
• BLS certification preferred or obtained within 90 days of hire.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with activities of daily living.
• Provide personal care, emotional support and basic clinical tasks under RN supervision.
• Document in the medical record as directed and report changes to the RN.
• Follow infection prevention policies and maintain patient privacy.

Who We Are:

The surge unit is a 14 bed unit that specializes in providing inpatient level of care to patients who are awaiting inpatient bed placement. We specialize in cardiac/telemetry and medical/surgical patients. The surge unit is overseen by the CICU inpatient managers. This position is based in the CICU, primarily assigned to the Surge Unit, with the expectation that you will float to other areas as needed.Strong teamwork and communication skills preferred as there will be collaboration with the ER and inpatient units. The surge RN has a 1:4 patient ratio and LNA 1:14.

About the Job:

The Surge Unit Licensed Nursing Assistant functions as an integral member of the care delivery team by providing direct and indirect patient care under the direction of a RN and within the scope of practice of a Licensed Nursing Assistant (LNA). Assists patients with activities of daily living, provides for personal care, emotional support and performs more complex clinical skills under the direction of an RN.

What You’ll Do:

• Models Elliot Essentials behavior with patients, peers and all other members of the health care team.
• Performs or assists patients in the completion of activities of daily living.
• Utilizes basic knowledge of growth and development to provide age-specific patient care.
• Provides basic support to patients and families in response to identified psychosocial needs and cultural and religious preferences.
• Performs clinical tasks within the scope of LNA practice, in accordance with policies and procedures of the Elliot Health System.
• Reports all observations, symptoms, deviations from normal, and changes in patient’s condition to the Registered Nurse
• Assists others in performing selected patient care activities or tasks as appropriate.
• Documents in selected areas of the medical record, as appropriate, according to policies and procedures and scope of practice
• Follows all infection prevention/universal precautions policies as appropriate.
• Incorporates safety principles, policies and procedures into daily practice.
• Ensures confidentiality of all patient, employee, legal, budget, and company matters. Maintains patient privacy and dignity.
• Performs designated direct and indirect patient care, clerical and environmental duties as assigned or directed.
• Demonstrate and apply effective communication skills: verbal, written, visual and listening.

Who You Are:

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Minimum of two (2) years of current experience in an acute care setting required. Must be at a clinical level that reflects proficiency and in-depth knowledge of nursing practice.
• Current New Hampshire, Nursing Assistant License required.

• BLS authorization preferred or obtained within 90 days of date of hire.
