Job summary

Advanced Correctional Healthcare is seeking a full-time Behavioral Health Specialist at Sangamon County Jail in Springfield, IL. You will conduct screenings, provide psychoeducation, and collaborate with custody and medical teams to support detainees’ mental health needs.

Responsibilities include monitoring, coordination of care with county services, thorough documentation, and CQI referrals. CPR certification and a valid driver’s license are required or preferred as noted in qualifications.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in a behavioral/social science field is required.
• Current state licensure with clinical specialty preferred.
• CPR certification must be obtained prior to hire.
• Must be able to practice independently and drive to assignments.

Responsibilities

• Under supervision, provide behavioral health screening of detainees.
• Provide individual and/or group psychoeducation and skills-based interventions.
• Assist custody and medical staff in monitoring behavioral health.
• Coordinate with custody/medical staff for treatment of detainees.
• Monitor and assess therapeutic support for segregated detainees.
• Support stabilization and discharge planning with county services.
• Coordinate with county services for continuity of care and record sharing.
• Complete documentation and maintain referral CQI records.
• Demonstrate commitment and provide training to solve problems.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

• Under supervision, provide individual and/or group psychoeducation and skills-based interventions.


• Assist custody and medical staff in the monitoring of behavioral health for referred detainees.


• Coordinate with custody and medical staff in the management and treatment of detainees with behavioral health concerns.


• Monitor and assess therapeutic support of segregated and isolated detainees.


• Support and supplement the activities of county behavioral health services in the stabilization of at-risk detainees.


• Coordinate with county behavioral health services for continuity of care and discharge planning/case management via sharing of pertinent patient information.


• Complete documentation as well as maintain records for referral tracking and continuous quality improvement (CQI) under supervision.


• Demonstrate commitment and dedication to providing behavioral health support and provide training to solve problems and make lives easier.


• Perform all other duties as assigned.

QualificationsREQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• Master’s Degree in a Behavioral/Social Science field (e.g., Psychology, Social Work, etc.) required.


• Current licensure with clinical specialty from the appropriate state licensing board preferred.


• CPR certification must be obtained prior to hire and maintained while in this role.


• Hands-on or online certifications are accepted.


• Must be able to practice independently.


• Must possess a valid driver’s license and be able to operate a motor vehicle.
