Key Responsibilities
  • Design HVAC and mechanical systems that meet building requirements, performance standards, and applicable codes
  • Perform heating and cooling load calculations, assess ventilation requirements, select equipment, and evaluate energy efficiency
  • Prepare mechanical plans, technical specifications, equipment schedules, engineering calculations, and construction documents
  • Serve as Engineer of Record when assigned, ensuring technical accuracy and sound engineering decisions throughout the project
  • Coordinate mechanical designs with architectural, structural, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection systems
  • Evaluate existing building conditions, regulatory requirements, and project constraints to develop effective design solutions
  • Review contractor submittals, shop drawings, RFIs, and proposed design changes for technical compliance
  • Conduct site visits, field evaluations, and construction observations to verify design intent and identify installation issues
  • Resolve design conflicts, code concerns, and field challenges while maintaining system performance and compliance
  • Evaluate alternative designs to improve cost efficiency, energy performance, reliability, and maintainability
  • Support commissioning, inspections, testing, and final project handover
  • Sign and seal engineering documents as authorized by licensure and applicable regulations
  • Maintain accurate engineering records and ensure deliverables meet project specifications and quality standards
  • Collaborate with clients, architects, contractors, and multidisciplinary engineering teams throughout project execution
Requirements
  • Active Professional Engineer (PE) license required
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline
  • 5+ years of mechanical engineering experience; 10+ years preferred
