Job summary

Ellie Mental Health–Clarkston is seeking a licensed LMSW in Michigan for a full-time role combining in-person and telehealth care. The clinic provides administrative support and a collaborative, authentic practice environment.

Clinicians focus on client care, with caseload growth supported by marketing and scheduling resources. The position requires current MI LMSW license, MSW from a CSWE-accredited program, and experience in outpatient psychotherapy.

Qualifications

• Willingness to build and maintain caseload and participate in outreach.

Responsibilities

Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) - Full-Time

Ellie Mental Health–Clarkston is an independently owned practice providing in‑person and telehealth care throughout Michigan. Our furnished clinic and administrative support, including billing, allow clinicians to focus primarily on client care and growth.

We seek a compassionate Michigan LMSW to join a collaborative practice grounded in authenticity, compassion, creativity, humor, acceptance, and determination.

Compensation

This is a W‑2 straight‑commission position, not a salaried position. Clinicians earn a commission percentage of collected insurance and client payments for completed services, an industry‑standard outpatient private‑practice model. Compensation covers session preparation, client sessions, scheduling, documentation, and required meetings. Unlike a 1099 arrangement, the W‑2 model includes employee benefits, employer‑paid payroll taxes, and employment protections.

Caseload Development

Building and maintaining a caseload is a shared responsibility. The practice provides marketing, online scheduling, administrative support, community relationships, and practice‑generated referrals. Clinicians must also maintain availability, respond promptly to referrals, support retention, communicate their specialties, and participate in approved outreach.

Approved outreach and caseload‑development activities are paid at $20 per hour when authorized in advance.

Full‑time clinicians must average at least 25 direct client‑facing hours per week and initially offer approximately 35 scheduling hours per week to support caseload growth and account for cancellations. At least one evening is required. Additional evening or weekend availability is especially valuable when serving children, adolescents, and families.

• Participate in consultation, staff meetings, and quality‑improvement activities
• Communicate professionally with clients, families, colleagues, billing staff, and referral partners
• Participate actively in caseload development and community outreach

Required Qualifications

• Current, unrestricted Michigan LMSW license in good standing with the Clinical designation; limited licensure does not qualify
• Master of Social Work degree from a CSWE‑accredited program
• Experience with outpatient psychotherapy, assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, risk assessment, and documentation
• Ability to complete accurate documentation within practice timelines
• Willingness to take an active role in building and maintaining a caseload
• Strong communication, organization, initiative, professional boundaries, dependability, and follow‑through
• Ability to serve diverse clients competently within scope of practice
• Proficiency with EHR and office technology; Valant experience is a plus

Preferred Qualifications

• Outpatient private‑practice experience
• Credentialing with commercial insurance, Medicaid, or EAP panels
• Community or professional referral relationships
• Outreach, presentation, marketing, or professional social‑media experience
• Clinical specialties responsive to community needs
