Job summary

Thompson Construction Group, Inc. is hiring a licensed Texas Master Plumber to supervise the installation and repair of heating, water and drainage systems in accordance with customer specs and plumbing codes.

You will study plans, locate pipe positions, choose fittings, cut and assemble piping, and ensure leak-free operation. Strong reading, mathematical, and safety skills are required, with physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in varied environments.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Completed Plumbing course at a technical or trade school or minimum of 3 years of experience working in the field.
• Able to read, write and communicate clearly with supervisor/co-workers and understand direction from supervisor.
• Basic math, ruler and calculator for piping and fixtures.

Responsibilities

• Study plans and drawings to determine work required and sequence of installation.
• Inspect structure to identify obstructions and prevent weakening from piping installation.
• Locate and mark position of pipe and connections in walls and floors.
• Select correct pipe, elbows, flanges, fixtures and supports.
• Cut and thread pipe using tools.
• Bend pipe to required angle using bending equipment or manual bending.
• Cut openings in floors and walls for pipe and fittings.
• Assemble and install valves, pipe fittings and pipes of various materials.
• Join pipes by screws, bolts, fittings, solder, solvent or caulks.
• Fill system with water/air and check for leaks.
• Install and repair plumbing fixtures.
• Repair and maintain plumbing and mend burst pipes.
• May weld holding fixtures to steel members.
• Other duties as assigned.

Position Description

Must have a Texas Master Plumber License.

Supervise the install and repair pipes, fitting and fixtures of heating, water and drainage systems according to customer specifications and plumbing codes.

Job Responsibilities

• Study plans and drawings to determine work required and sequence of installation.
• Inspect structure to ascertain obstructions to be avoided to prevent weakening of structure resulting from installation of pipe.
• Locate and mark position of pipe and pipe connections and passage holes for pipes in walls and floors, spirit level, and plumb bob.
• Select correct pipe, elbows, flanges, fixtures and hangers or supports.
• Cut and thread pipe using pipe cutters, cutting torch and pipe-threading machine.
• Bend pipe to required angle by use of pipe-bending machine or by placing pipe over block and bending it by hand.
• Cut openings in floors and walls to accommodate pipe and fittings using hand tools and power tools.
• Assemble and install valves, pipe fittings and pipes of different materials such as metals, glass, verified clay or plastic hand held and power tools.
• Join pipes by use of screws, bolts, fittings, solder, plastic solvent, and caulks joints.
• Fill pipe system with water or air and reads pressure gauges to determine whether system is leaking.
• Install and repair plumbing fixtures.
• Repair and maintain plumbing, mend burst pipes, and open clogged drains.
• May weld holding fixtures to steel structural members.
• Other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Completed Plumbing course at a technical or trade school or minimum of 3 years of experience working in the field.
• Must be able to read, write and communicate clearly with supervisor/co-workers and understand direction from supervisor.
• Utilize basic math, a ruler and calculator to solve geometric problems associated with running Plumbing Pipe and fixtures.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, climb, bend, twist, stand and reach repetitively, operate equipment and work in hot/cold/damp/cramped environment.
• Candidate may be required to pass a drug test and criminal background based on job location/requirements.
