As a Licensed Massage Therapist, you will provide high-quality therapeutic massage tailored to each patient's individual needs and goals, while working closely with our chiropractors to support and complement their treatment plans.
Client Assessment & Communication
- Conduct brief but thorough consultations to understand patients' problem areas, medical history, conditions, preferences, and goals.
- Assess each patient's needs and customize treatments accordingly.
- Communicate comfortably with patients throughout their sessions to gather feedback, address concerns, and adjust pressure or techniques as needed.
- Educate patients about the benefits of massage therapy and provide appropriate self-care recommendations.
Massage Therapy
- Perform a variety of massage techniques, including Swedish, deep tissue, sports massage, reflexology, and other appropriate modalities.
- Customize pressure and techniques based on each patient's comfort level and treatment goals.
- Provide therapeutic massage designed to support pain relief, mobility, relaxation, and overall wellness.
- Collaborate with our chiropractor, and other healthcare professionals when appropriate, to support the patient's overall care.
Documentation
- Keep basic, accurate, and straightforward SOAP notes and patient records.
- Document treatment provided, patient progress, preferences, and any relevant contraindications.
- Maintain appropriate confidentiality and professional standards.
Hygiene & Safety
- Maintain a clean, organized, comfortable, and relaxing therapy room.
- Follow appropriate sanitation, hygiene, and health and safety standards.
- Properly clean and maintain massage equipment and treatment areas.
Continuing Education
- Stay current with massage therapy techniques, industry trends, anatomy, wellness practices, and professional standards.
- Participate in continuing education as needed to maintain Michigan licensure and continue developing your skills.
What We Are Looking For
- Active Michigan Massage Therapist (LMT) license.
- Current professional liability/malpractice insurance.
- Proven experience as a massage therapist with knowledge of multiple massage modalities.
- Ability to perform Swedish, deep tissue, sports, reflexology, and other therapeutic techniques.
- Strong understanding of anatomy, physiology, and massage contraindications.
- Ability to assess patient needs and customize treatments.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Friendly, reliable, down-to-earth, and positive attitude.
- Strong commitment to professional ethics, patient confidentiality, and quality care.
- Comfortable adjusting pressure from light/relaxation massage to deep tissue.
