Fitzwater Outdoor Maintenance of Greenville Ohio is hiring a Licensed Lawn Care Applicator to diagnose lawn issues and apply customized fertilizer, herbicide, and pesticide treatments for residential and commercial clients. Work is outdoor and weather-dependent with 10‑hour shifts Monday through Thursday and occasional Fridays; snow removal is included.

Candidates must hold a valid pesticide license, a clean driver’s license, and be able to lift up to 50 lbs.

Qualifications

• Valid State Pesticide / Herbicide Applicator License or active License eligibility.
• Driver’s license with clean driving record.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly and work outdoors in various weather.
• Strong attention to safety protocols and dosage calculations.
• Must pass a drug screen and background check.

Responsibilities

• Safely apply fertilizers, herbicides, fungicides, and insecticides per label and regulations.
• Inspect lawns during visits to identify issues and recommend treatments.
• Operate and maintain turf equipment (ride-on sprayers, backpack sprayers, hoses, hand tools).
• Communicate with property owners about services and post-treatment care.
• Maintain daily logs of product usage, weather, visits, and chemical records.
• Perform pre-trip inspections and follow PPE requirements for safety.
• Shovel or plow snow, apply de-icers, and ensure access during winter weather.

Licensed Lawn Care Applicator

Responsible for diagnosing lawn issues, applying customized fertilizer, herbicide, and pesticide treatments, and maintaining healthy, vibrant lawns for our residential and commercial clients.

Typical Work Environment

Outdoor work, often in varying weather conditions (heat, rain, snow). May involve early mornings, late evenings, and weekend shifts, particularly during snow seasons.

Schedule: 10-hour shift, Monday thru Thursday, with occasional Fridays. Hours may vary.

Key Responsibilities

• Application: Safely measure, mix, and apply fertilizers, herbicides, fungicides, and insecticides according to label directions and state/local regulations.
• Lawn Assessment: Inspect clients' lawns on each visit to identify weeds, pests, diseases, or environmental stress, and recommend appropriate treatment plans.
• Equipment Operation: Safely operate and maintain turf equipment, including ride-on sprayers/spreaders, backpack sprayers, hose reels, and hand tools.
• Customer Interaction: Communicate professionally with property owners to explain services performed, provide post-treatment care instructions, and answer questions.
• Record Keeping: Maintain accurate daily logs of product usage, weather conditions, customer visits, and chemical application records as mandated by regulatory bodies.
• Vehicle & Safety Maintenance: Keep assigned company truck organized and clean; perform pre-trip inspections and adhere to all personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements.
• Snow Removal: Shoveling or using equipment to clear snow from driveways, walkways, and parking lots. Applying salt or other de-icing agents to prevent ice buildup. Ensuring safe access to properties during winter weather events. Operating snowplows or snow blowers when necessary.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Valid State Pesticide / Herbicide Applicator License or an active Pesticide Operator License with the ability to obtain full applicator certification.

Driver’s License: Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.

Physical Capability: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly, work outdoors in various weather conditions (heat, rain, cold), and stand/walk for extended periods.

Detail-Oriented: Strong attention to safety protocols, dosage calculations, and equipment maintenance.

Must be able to pass a drug screen and background check

Certifications (Optional but Beneficial)

Commercial driver’s license (CDL).
