Helix Electric is seeking a licensed Journeyman Electrician for a full-time, on-site role in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. You will join a production-driven team, performing electrical installations and troubleshooting on a data center project, with emphasis on quality, safety, and adherence to codes.

The position requires an Iowa journeyman license, fluent English, and OSHA 10/30 certification. Physical work in diverse weather and overtime may be required.

Qualifications

• State certified journeyman electrician as required by state license rules.
• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Assemble, install, maintain and test electrical equipment and wiring systems in commercial settings.
• Read blueprints and electrical drawings to install as specified.

The successful electrician will be part of a production driven team, performing electrical installations and troubleshooting. You will be working on an exciting Data Center project in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

DUTIES & SCOPE:

• Responsible for assembly, installation, maintenance and testing of electrical equipment and wiring systems in commercial settings.
• Prepares work area for installation of equipment.
• Installs electrical components.
• Connects wiring and equipment as per code and job specification.
• Operates equipment only if trained and certified to operate. (Note: Powder activated tools, and JLG lifts and other operations that may require certification and training before operating).
• Sets up and operates tools such as hydraulic benders, power threaders, power pullers and cable vacuum systems.
• Be able to read blueprints and electrical drawings and install as specified.
• Verify dimensions, alignments and clearances per drawings or plans.
• Secure and lock up equipment after use.
• State Journeyman Electrician Certification is a requirement in states where required or considered highly desirable in states without this requirement
• A proven track record of delivering safe projects on schedule and within budget.
• Excellent working knowledge of the Building Codes.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• You must hold an Iowa journeyman license.
• You must be fluent in English
• You must have your Osha10 or Osha30

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & REQUIREMENTS:

• Job requires working in all elements, depending on job location, time of year, heat, cold, rain, snow.
• Wear personal protective equipment (hard hat, safety glasses, and gloves always), respirator when required.
• Able to work 8-10 hours per day, 40 hours per week, overtime, and night shifts as required.
• Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job, including crawling, standing, stooping, bending, crouching, kneeling, sitting, reaching, able to routinely lift heavy objects in excess of 50 pounds and pushing and pulling of objects is required.
• Repetitive use of arms, hands, and fingers.
• Physical work is a primary part (more than 70%) of the job.

COMPENSATION:

The hourly base pay for this role is $45 per hour and $125 per diem for all 7 days. The actual base is dependent upon many factors, such as location, training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. The role may also be eligible for bonus and benefits. Total Retention Bonus Opportunity: $7,500.
Payment Schedule & Conditions
1st Retention Payment Amount: $2,500 after 30 days on the project and verification of license.
2nd Retention Payment Amount: $2,500. Milestone: Achievement of the 90 days from first payment milestone.
Final Retention Payment The employee will be eligible for the final retention payment of $2,500. upon the successful completion of the Cedar Rapids, Iowa (DC1/DC7) Project, which is currently anticipated to be completed on or about the fourth quarter of 2027. Or until HEI releases them for lack of work or reduction of force
