Job description

Wilson Electric Services Corp. is an Electrical and Special Systems contractor that has ranked #1 as the Southwest’s leading electrical contractor for the last 20 years. This role is available to Licensed Journeyman Electricians with a current NM Electrician License.

Responsibilities
  • Planning new or modified installations to minimize waste of materials.
  • Providing access for future maintenance and avoiding unsightly, hazardous, and unreliable wiring.
  • Preparing sketches showing the location of wiring and equipment, following diagrams or blueprints, ensuring that concealed wiring is installed before completion of future walls, ceilings, and flooring.
  • Measuring, cutting, bending, threading, assembling, and installing electrical conduit using tools such as band saw, pipe threaders, and conduit benders.
  • Pulling wiring through conduit.
  • Splicing wire by stripping insulation, using terminal leads with a knife or wire strippers, twisting wires together, and applying tape or terminal caps.
  • Connecting wiring to lighting fixtures and power equipment using hand tools.
  • Installing distribution apparatus such as switches, relays, and circuit‑breaker panels, fastening in place with screws or bolts, using hand and power tools.
  • Connecting power cables to equipment such as transformers, switchgear, motors, and installing grounding leads.
  • Testing continuity of circuits to ensure electrical compatibility and safety of components using instruments such as ohmmeter, voltmeter, and ammeter.
  • Observing functioning of installed equipment to determine hazards and need for adjustments, relocation, or replacement.
  • Repairing faulty equipment.
  • Working with and training lower‑level employees on proper installation and equipment operation.
  • Following safety rules.
Physical Requirements

Work requires exposure to construction site environments with temperature extremes, dust, fumes, smoke, hazardous substances, and loud noise levels. Up to 70% of the job may involve heavy physical work such as lifting, pushing or pulling material weighing 50 to 100 pounds. The position requires the incumbent to climb and work from ladders, scaffolds, or aerial lifts, stand or walk for long periods, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, squat, crawl, and work in awkward positions or confined spaces for several hours at a time. Unrestricted use of hands, arms, shoulders, upper and lower back, as well as visual acuity and depth perception is required. Pulmonary capacity must be sufficient to permit the use of an air‑purifying respirator if required.
