At Waxing the City, our licensed service providers are not only waxing experts, they’re waxing authorities. This led us to create our very own title of Cerologist™ technicians, combining “cera” (Latin for wax) with “ologist” (to highlight their level of education and expertise). After a week-long, hands-on training course at our Waxing University®, our service providers become certified Cerologists.

We’re seeking full-time licensed beauty professionals who are passionate about exceptional service, building strong client relationships, and growing a loyal book of business. Our Cerologists™ are more than service providers; they educate guests, recommend personalized services and aftercare products, sell memberships, consistently rebook clients, and create experiences that keep guests coming back.

Waxing experience is a plus, but a strong sales and client-service mindset is just as important. If you have experience in beauty, retail, hospitality, fitness, membership sales, or another customer-facing environment where you’ve worked toward sales or performance goals, we’d love to hear from you.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Perform professional face and body waxing services in accordance with Waxing the City standards, protocols, and state board regulations.
• Build strong guest relationships and deliver exceptional experiences that drive loyalty and retention.
• Educate guests on pre- and post-wax care while confidently recommending personalized services, add-ons, and retail products.
• Promote and sell Club Orange memberships, wax packages, retail products, and other studio offerings based on guest needs.
• Consistently rebook guests, build a loyal clientele, and meet individual performance goals for sales, rebooking, retention, average service ticket, and services per ticket.
• Maintain a clean, safe, professional, and welcoming studio while supporting opening, closing, cleaning, and daily operational responsibilities.
• Participate in ongoing technical training, sales coaching, role-playing, and professional development.
• Support studio growth through referrals, social media, community engagement, teamwork, and a positive, accountable studio culture.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Required: Current CA State Licensure in good standing (Esthetician, Cosmetologist)
• Required: Weekend availability.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Sales-minded with a passion for building guest relationships.
• Comfortable initiating conversations about products, services, memberships, and rebooking.
• Previous waxing or esthetics experience is preferred but not required.
• Comfortable and open to performing male waxing services.
• Comfortable being coached and held accountable to measurable performance and sales goals.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Previous sales experience in a customer-facing environment.
• Experience working toward individual or team sales goals, quotas, KPIs, or performance targets.
• Experience recommending and selling retail products, memberships, packages, upgrades, add-ons, or recurring services.
• Experience in beauty, skincare, cosmetics, retail, hospitality, fitness/wellness, med spa, salon, or another service-based sales environment.
• Proven ability to build relationships and turn new customers into repeat clients.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Stand for extended periods (often 6–8+ hours per shift).
• Bend, reach, squat, and move throughout the studio.
• Perform repetitive hand, wrist, and arm movements.
• Maintain dexterity for precise waxing services.
• Lift and carry supplies up to approximately 20–25 pounds.
