Job summary

Solar Connection in Rochester, MN is hiring a Journeyman Electrician to lead electrical installation for solar projects. A solid electrical background and willingness to learn are required; no solar-specific experience is necessary. The role is full-time with competitive wages and benefits.

The starting wage is $49.00 per hour. Responsibilities include planning layouts, installing equipment, mentoring apprentices, communicating with customers, and maintaining safety protocols.

Qualifications

• Must have current Wisconsin Electrical License.
• Must have working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC).
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Be physically fit to perform the job functions including standing, squatting, bending, lifting.
• Comfortable working on roofs (occasionally) and outside in all conditions.

Responsibilities

• Plan the lay out of the project and install electrical equipment per line diagram.
• Apply knowledge of electrical code and industry standards on each install.
• Communicate effectively with team members and customers.
• Mentor electrical apprentices on the installation team.
• Use logic to solve problems and develop cost-effective solutions.
• Prioritize safety with appropriate PPE and lockout/tagout procedures.

POSITION SUMMARY

We design and build solar arrays for residential, commercial, and Ag. Plan sets for these projects are developed by our design team, and it is the Journeyman’s responsibility to lead the electrical installation and carry out the plan. No solar installation experience is necessary, just a solid electrical background and the desire to learn something new. This is a great opportunity to expand your skills and be part of a growing industry.

Job responsibilities will include:

• Plan the lay out of the project and install the appropriate electrical equipment using the line diagram as the template.
• Use knowledge of electrical code, relevant industry standards, and skills that are expected of the licensed electrician.
• Use effective verbal and written communication skills to communicate with fellow team members and with customers.
• Mentor electrical apprentices who are part of the installation team.
• Apply logic and reasoning to solve problems that arise during the installation. Come up with cost effective solutions.
• Operate with safety in mind, always using appropriate PPE and proper lockout/tag out procedures.

This position is full-time.

The starting salary is $49.00 per hour.
