About

At Mr. Electric of Chapel Hill and Cary, we built our brand on stability, craftsman pride, and real respect for our tradespeople. We know legacy contractors often leave you stuck driving back and forth to a shop every morning, driving outdated trucks, or putting in long hours without fair compensation. We do things differently.

About the Role

As a Residential Service Electrician, you’ll handle 2–3 daily calls focused on troubleshooting, panel upgrades, and rewiring. Tailor your career here - installs, estimating, or both - to maximize your earnings.

High performers can advance to a paid Team Lead/Mentor role within months. No stagnation - just focus on what you do best and earn accordingly. (We have goals and metrics clearly laid out to guide you.)

What's In It for You
  • $3,000 Hiring Bonus

  • On-Target Earnings (OTE): For Service Pros who do both estimating and installing of their jobs, earn $100,000+ / year average, with top performers taking home $150,000+ / year. ($49-$73 would be TOTAL earnings/OTE which includes a combination of base pay and uncapped performance incentive pay.)

  • Modern Fleet & Work-Life Perks: Stocked take-home service trucks, convenient dispatch-from-home daily routing, provided iPads, work phone, and state-of-the-art modern tools.

  • Health & Wellness Benefits: Medical, Dental, and Vision coverage through Blue Cross Blue Shield (Company pays 50% of your premium).

  • Retirement: 401(k) plan with company match.

  • Paid Time Off

  • Balanced On-Call Rotation

Core Responsibilities
  • Day 1 Independence: Independently diagnose, troubleshoot, and perform high-quality residential electrical repairs, panel replacements, rewiring, and fixture installs.

  • Customer Education & Sales: Walk homeowners through their safety needs, present transparent pricing options, and close jobs using modern tablet technology. (Again, it's in doing the sales and installation that our journeymen earn top pay.)

  • Daily Execution: Efficiently run 2–3 residential service calls per day with a high standard of safety, quality, and cleanliness.

  • Truck & Inventory Care: Keep your new company vehicle clean, presentable, and well-stocked with tools and inventory.

  • Team Alignment: Check in with the office 1–3 times a week for supply restocks, training, and team connection.

Required & Preferred Experience
  • Residential Background: Journeyman's License AND at least 3+ years of dedicated residential service and troubleshooting experience required.

  • Day 1 Readiness: Must be fully capable of performing residential troubleshooting and repairs independently from day one.

  • Tech-Savvy: Comfortable operating provided iPads, digital dispatch software, and modern diagnostic tools.

  • Screenings & Requirements: Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, background check, and drug screening.

Key Attributes for Success
  • Top 3 Traits: Highly motivated/hungry, a genuine team player, and an engaging customer educator.

  • Craftsmanship Pride: You take pride in clean, meticulous panel work and neat wiring.

  • Professional Appearance: Clean, tidy, presentable, and non-smoking on customer property to build trust with homeowners.

  • Accountability & Positivity: You own up to mistakes, welcome constructive feedback, and bring an upbeat attitude to work every day.
