Job summary

St. Joseph Institute for Addiction is seeking a Licensed Counselor to provide treatment, counseling, and support for clients recovering from addictions and related mental health issues.

The role includes assessing clients, leading group and individual sessions, and educating families about recovery strategies. The position requires a bachelor’s degree with 3+ years’ experience or a master’s degree with 1+ year of relevant experience, plus CPR and de‑escalation training.

Qualifications

• Requires bachelor’s degree with 3+ years post‑bachelor experience in addictions or counseling.
• OR master’s degree with 1+ year post‑master experience in addictions, therapy or counseling.
• Degree must be from an accredited college or university.

Responsibilities

• Conduct client assessments identifying history, current presentation and treatment needs.
• Lead group, individual or family sessions and document progress.
• Provide crisis intervention and counseling to clients as needed.
• Document care, treatment and incidents timely and clearly.
• Coordinate aftercare planning and liaise with insurance carriers and referral sources.
• Conduct educational workshops in hospital and community settings.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in social services, addiction, mental health or closely related health services field

Master’s degree in social services, addictions, mental health or closely related health services field
