Major Functions

The Licensed Mental Health Clinician provides individual and group counseling for residents addressing substance use disorders, assists with accessing community resources, and collaborates within a clinical team, providing guidance to counselors.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

• Conduct assessments and counseling for residents on family, medical, psychiatric, and housing issues.
• Lead evidence-based group counseling sessions.
• Maintain accurate resident records, including assessments and treatment plans.
• Provide crisis intervention and discharge planning.
• Participate in resident activities and community affiliations.
• Educate and support families regarding residents’ behavioral issues.
• Manage caseloads when necessary and conduct resident screenings.
• Attend staff meetings, case conferences, and training sessions.
• Engage in quality improvement activities and assume managerial duties in the absence of a manager.

Requirements

• Master’s Degree in Social Work, Counseling, or Marriage and Family Therapy.
• One year of experience in a social services setting working with chemically dependent clients.
• NYS Licensure as a Social Worker, Mental Health Counselor, or Marriage and Family Therapist (or ability to obtain within 6 months).
• Effective communication skills, flexibility in scheduling, proficiency with computers, bilingual skills preferred but not required.
