Job summary

Focus Point Behavioral Health in Texas is seeking a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC) to join our behavioral health team. You will provide comprehensive addiction and mental health counseling to individuals with substance use disorders and co-occurring conditions, helping clients achieve recovery and improved well-being.

You will conduct assessments, develop treatment plans, and deliver individual and group therapy using CBT and motivational interviewing while coordinating care

Qualifications

• Active LCDC licensure in Texas.
• Experience with individuals with substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions.
• Strong knowledge of DSM-5 criteria, ICD/CPT coding, and clinical documentation standards.

Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough client assessments utilizing DSM-5 criteria and clinical documentation standards to develop personalized treatment plans.
• Deliver individual and group therapy sessions employing behavioral therapy, CBT, motivational interviewing, and other evidence-based practices.
• Facilitate crisis intervention and crisis management strategies to support clients experiencing acute mental health or substance use crises.
• Perform intake evaluations, treatment planning, and ongoing client progress monitoring while maintaining accurate medical documentation in EHR systems.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate comprehensive care in home, community, hospital, or outpatient settings.
• Provide child & family counseling when appropriate, addressing behavioral health needs across diverse cultural backgrounds.
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and maintain strict confidentiality of all patient records and sensitive information.

• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including social workers, medical professionals, and family members, to coordinate comprehensive care in home, community, hospital, or outpatient settings.
• Provide child & family counseling when appropriate, addressing behavioral health needs across diverse cultural backgrounds.
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and maintain strict confidentiality of all patient records and sensitive information.

Qualifications

• Valid licensure as a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC) or equivalent credential.
• Proven experience working with individuals with substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions.
• Strong knowledge of addiction medicine, mental health counseling, DSM-5 diagnostic criteria, ICD coding (ICD-9/10), CPT coding, and clinical documentation standards.
• Skilled in psychotherapy modalities such as behavioral therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, and crisis intervention techniques.
• Experience working with diverse populations in settings such as hospitals, community clinics, or home-based care environments.
• Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems for patient care documentation and data collection.
• Excellent client assessment skills combined with the ability to communicate effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
• Knowledge of medical terminology related to behavioral health and addiction treatment is preferred.
