Job summary

U.S. Facilities, Inc. seeks a full-time Building Engineer to join our maintenance team in Prince George's County, Maryland. The role focuses on operating, maintaining and repairing HVAC and mechanical systems across commercial and industrial facilities.

You will handle RTUs, AHUs, VRF systems, MAUs, boilers, chillers, energy management systems and fire/safety equipment, with emphasis on reliability and client satisfaction. Shift-based on-site work with client coordination.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 3 years maintenance experience plus 2 years boiler/chiller experience.
  • Ability to operate building automation systems.
  • Maryland 1st Class Stationary Engineer License is required.
  • EPA 608 Universal Certification is required.
  • Valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

  • Operate, maintain, and repair mechanical systems in commercial/industrial facilities.
  • Perform repairs and maintenance of heating, cooling, and ventilation systems.
  • Read blueprints and interpret layouts for installations and repairs.
  • Respond to emergencies including floods and power outages.
  • Maintain records of certificates and licenses for power plant equipment.
  • Willingness to work overtime when required and pre-approved.

Job description

U.S. Facilities, Inc., a premier provider of building maintenance and infrastructure services, is seeking a full-time Building Engineer to join our maintenance team in Prince George's County, Maryland. If you have strong facilities maintenance experience and enjoy keeping commercial and industrial environments safe, efficient, and client-ready, this is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact.

In this role, you will be responsible for operating, maintaining, and repairing mechanical systems in commercial and industrial facilities. Your work will help ensure safe, efficient, and reliable building operations across equipment that may include Rooftop Units (RTUs), Air Handling Units (AHUs), Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) systems, Make-Up Air Units (MAUs), boilers, chillers, energy management systems, exhaust fans, laundry equipment, fire alarm systems, and refrigeration systems.

As the primary engineer assigned to the facility, you will be provided with a phone and laptop to support timely communication with clients and the team. In-person responses will occur during your regular shift, unless otherwise approved by the client.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Perform repairs and maintenance of heating, cooling, and ventilation systems.
  • Handle advanced HVAC tasks involving piping systems, motors, controllers, pneumatic systems, and chilled water.
  • Maintain air handlers and mechanical equipment (filters, belts, oiling, coil cleaning, drain pan maintenance).
  • Operate, install, repair, and maintain mechanical equipment such as exhaust fans, automatic valves, pneumatic/electrical controls, refrigeration systems, and space heating/cooling units.
  • Replace fire and smoke alarm detectors.
  • Replace sprinkler heads and perform minor sprinkler system repairs.
  • Maintain boiler room equipment, including cleaning and painting.
  • Monitor and file records of certificates and licenses for power plant equipment.
  • Respond to emergencies such as floods, power outages, and other facility incidents.
  • Provide own basic hand tools and test equipment.Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and layouts.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 3 years maintenance experience plus 2 years boiler/chiller experience (large commercial facility preferred).
  • Ability to operate building automation systems.
  • Maryland 1st Class Stationary Engineer License (required).
  • Universal Refrigeration Certification (EPA 608 Universal) (required).Valid driver's license.
  • Ability to read and speak English clearly.
  • Ability to climb ladders, walk long distances, and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work in all climate conditions.
  • Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background investigation and drug screening, including random testing where permitted by law and applicable contract requirements.
  • Willingness to work overtime when required and pre-approved by the client.
  • Ability to perform minor plumbing tasks.
