Job summary

Avenues Recovery Center in Metairie, LA is hiring a full-time Addiction Counselor for our Outpatient Program. You will conduct group therapy, provide psychoeducation, and help clients develop coping skills to sustain recovery.

Collaborate with clinical staff to monitor progress, ensure thorough documentation, and complete all assessments and charting. A bachelor's degree and state licensure to practice are required, with substance abuse experience and strong communication skills an asset.

Qualifications

• State licensure to practice (LPC, LCSW, or CIT).
• Substance abuse experience required.
• Excellent observational and interpersonal skills.
• Strong written and oral communication; maintain confidentiality.

Responsibilities

Now hiring a full-time Addiction Counselor for our Outpatient Program located in Metairie, LA!

What You'll Do

• Conduct group therapy, psychoeducation, and process groups designed to meet each client's challenges and needs
• Assist clients in developing healthy coping skills, positive behaviors, and recovery tools
• Collaborate consistently with clinical staff to keep track of client challenges and progress
• Escalate any significant client concerns to Clinical Director
• Maintain thorough documentation of all group sessions conducted
• Ensure all clinical assessments and individual client charting is completed

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in psychology, counseling or related field required. Master's degree preferred.
• Valid state licensure / certification necessary to practice in this role, i.e. LPC, LCSW or CIT
• Substance abuse experience required
• Excellent observational, collaborative and interpersonal skills
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Compassionate, dignified character which models recovery principles
• Ability to set strong boundaries and maintain absolute confidentiality
